This storm created some hype and seems for delmarva, its turning into a let-down. Everyone over shot this thing. I hope things change but as of now...the out look is grim. Swellinfo, are you thinking more stomach to chest 2-morow or are you staying with the occasional head?

Check out the bouys down off virgina...we still have more to come.
Even if hannah's swell is a hit and run, we still will have fun IKE swell through monday+.

Just looked at one of the online cams in OC MD. Size is not huge, but has definetely increased alot since this morning, and appears to be growing in power as well. Possibly being over optimistic but I thing by tommorrow's low tide we will be seeing a fun wave.

Ive been thinking the same thing...not much SE fetch on this one the way the bulk of the wind field is over land and will be to our north tonight and sunday. The buoys down off VA beach and Cape Hatteras aren't showing any real size either.

hanna swell wont be huge for delmarva, but Ike swell should be solid and will likely be the dominant swell. Swellinfo hurricane model showing 5ft @ 12 seconds from Ike. Thats SOLID. I am expecting a very good day of surf on Sunday.

You are making me feel a little better. I just bodysurfed it. The short period stuff is week. Based on the wip of the current, ike might be showing already and its just masked by the chop.

ya, Ike should be in the mix now, but mostly undectable with all the current and wind chop. I actually think its a good thing that Hanna swell will be fading quick, because it should allow for more groomed conditions for Ike.

The other questions is how are the sandbars are going to hold the long period Ike swell. Delmarva is always very fickle on the long period swells, but I'm thinking that it will have enough South in the direction so hopefully it wont be all closeouts. I'm hopeful. Tides will likely be influential.

Belmar will be overhead in the morning...I dunno about the afternoon though. It all depends on Hanna. Def. clean conditions though.

I'm gonna drive down with my bro in the AM. We'll stop by our place in BB, get our gear and head out there, maybe see some of you fools in the water!

Does Justine still lurk here? Justine, if you see this, give me a call. Havent seen you since on the beach at pipeline back in Jan 07 :)

Waves are def in the water. This evening the wind shifted to offshore, maybe slighty to the south, but made some nice groomed waves. Outside sets very close to double overhead, i dont care if you looked at the water and thought it was small from the beach. Easily head high and bigger on the sets. Mostly rights lining up, with the occasional left. the forecast has been right on, just the right amount of hype.

    Happy surfing tomorrow

rusty's right, i went out after work at 6:15 pm on saturday night. wind swung from SW to hard variable W. Sets were definitely well overhead, pushing double, average wave height solid head high. Paddle out was a solid 15 minute ordeal, not for the weak of heart. Some stand-up barrels to be had, super fast, and some super long rights. Tomorrow morning is definitely going to be epic. Don't believe me? I'll see you tomorrow at 6:30. Surf it, believe it.

also, i had to work today, so i was standing there watching it the whole day...

everyone is right, the swell sucked ...

...until about 3 o'clock, pm. the swell really started to pump in and by about 5:30 it was solid overhead surf, starting to clean up.

Went on break from work in OCMD at 530pm, checked the surf and was easily, in the 5-7 ft maybe an 8ft...checked again at 8pm and was no bigger than chest to shoulder with a good 20 mph offshores...waves in the am? The offshores seem the really be knocking it down and quick!
