Yeah, it was definitely a freaking zoo out there... which I think is normal for Trestles. I'll never surf there unless it's a freakish Twilight Zone day with only a handful of people out.
I've scored Lowers pretty tolerable crowd-wise on more than one trip to California. More than a handful but nothing crazy crowd - wise. 15 heads in the water, some people doing more talking than scratching for waves. Waist-chest high days after a couple weeks of bigger swell..evening paddle outs an hour or two before dark when most people are leaving because its a hike out. Caught it clean with 5 people in the water for the last 45 minutes of daylight that way a couple years ago. Its such an amazing wave/beautiful spot. I'm sure on a lot of days the crowd is just unbearable...but maybe not as bad as you might think on a random weekday. Being willing to go on the lefts helps! Gaffer is right...there are waves all up and down that stretch...Uppers and Lowers are the magnets in the middle....Cottons and Church are the lesser waves nearby. After a couple hours of fun small Lowers:
