most people, even conservatives have no problem with welfare,. the break down comes when those who receive it do not use it for the intended purpose of bettering themselves. Those who do, I applaud them.

Exactly. If people use it to get back on their feet, that's great. The problem is that it's usually a never ending cycle within families if that family is already infected by self-taught entitlements. Obviously this doesn't include the handicapped or people with mental problems. Unless it's people who cry they are a little depressed and don't try to help themselves. Me suck big-Pharma's drug tit because of their amazing commercials. Maybe I can fly a kite after taking this anti-depressant with side affects of suicide and more depression. Bear, you don't talk about section 8 housing and add that to your welfare list. That's another 1,800 - 2,000 a month for them depending on children.
Also, I wonder how many people on here think it's fair for illegals to receive welfare, food stamps and section 8 housing after they broke the law to get here. Their anchor baby gives them those entitlements. That stats now show that most illegals aren't even working and just collection benefits. Deport them all with their babies. Otherwise, Lee we will end up being a third world country.

The only people who are fine with the illegal situation are people who benefit from them or bleeding heart liberals. Small businesses who hire them at slave labor and make a killing love them. I love their anchor babies. I love that they cost over 200 billion. I love that they break the law to come to the country but receive benefits that we all pay for. I love that there is a federal mandate to treat them at no charge in the ER while the rest of us have to get obamacare and pay a fine. I love that they get welfare and live in housing as nice as me because they get a huge section 8 rent check. I love that they aren't even citizens and they get al l these things. Is there any way we can give them more, please? I also love that they drive without insurance and run from the scenes of accidents. Electric fence at the border and shoot to kill at the border. Make sure there are signs in every language letting them know this 100 yards before they enter the kill zone. No birthright citizenship. Anyone that hires them should have to be a huge fine and lose their business. We have to take away the reasons for them to come here. Otherwise, it will look like southern Florida or Cali. They have places in Florida near Miami where the employees don't even speak English. They look at you like you are an outsider when you don't know Spanish. I've witnessed it first hand. I told them English please! This is still America. Please leave and bring your 8 anchor babies with you. Don't let the electric fence shock you on the way out. You get rid of illegals and illegal immigration, the economy would benefit. It is way cheaper to deport illegals than it costs the taxpayer to pick up their entitlements. The per person figures show this by a national study how deporting is cheaper than giving them citizenship. Wake the **** up. This doesn't even include jobs that would open up again for all the unemployment caused by illegals. People say they do jobs that others wont, please that is drinking the cool aid. People performed these jobs at higher wages before these illegals showed up and depressed the wages. We can't all live with four families in a house which drives rents prices up. Citizens actually abide by the coding laws. Therefore, they can't work for illegal wages and even get housing at prices split by 20 people. It's such a trickle down effect but I'm sure you know somebody and feel for them. Oh, poor illegal. Our government supports illegal immigration and wants to reward them with a path to citizenship. Now who is actually drinking the cool aid. Obviously, the ones supporting the rhetoric from the government. Don't worry sheep, let the government tell you what's right and just believe it. Regan's path to citizenship sure stopped the problem. Please do some research before debating. You will see all the information is out there in studies. Neither party wants to do anything because illegals actually manage to vote using fraudalent means. Each party wants these votes and the votes of the anchor babies in the future. A path to citizenship will give that party millions of votes in the future.
Also, just look at California to see the effect of illegals on an economy. Education cost has doubled (bilingual teachers and spending more time with illegal students, higher population due to illeglas) and many hospitals had to shut down because they get free healthcare based on the federal mandate. They hospitals have paid so much out of pocket, they couldn't survive any longer just because of illegals. Do you know that there are more babies delivered by illegal immigrants than citizens in California and they don't pay that bill? Do you know that the cost to deliver a baby is close to some peoples yearly salary. Do you know how many people work at hospitals (from janitors, nurses, security, orderlies, cafeteria workers, etc. etc.? Hospitals can almost employ a population of a small town. Don't forget about all businesses/vendors that are affected by the hospital shut down. I can't wait until this spreads to the rest of the country like a virus. Oh, but I'm just drinking the cool-aid, lol.
Since you have read all of these studies, can you please post links to them? Unless you are Native American, you do realize that your ancestors (gasp - maybe even your grandparents) were immigrants, right? They just happened to be fortunate enough to live at a time when immigration into this country was easy. You basically showed up on a boat full of immigrants and they let you in as long as you weren't deathly ill. I don't dispute that illegal immigration is a problem, but are you really going to be able to round up and deport some 11 million people? And how much will that cost? Are you sure a better long term path isn't to allow for some kind of path to citizenship so that they can eventually integrate themselves into society and become productive citizens?

I've sort of come to the conclusion that military spending is pretty much an entitlement. When congress votes to fund planes or tanks that the military doesnt even want, just because the companies that have those contracts are located in their districts, at that point its just a spending and jobs program, and might as well be called corporate welfare. The lines between right and left have really been blurred. I'm so disillusioned with the major parties, that i've pretty much resigned myself to voting for third party candidates (Gary Johnson, Ron Paul etc) just because the two party system is so harmful at this point.
I will find the studies and post them. You do know that it's more expensive per illegal to stay here than to actually deport them. Right? Also, they broke the law and came here illegally. Do you know how many are criminal, rapists, pedophiles? Do you know how many carry diseases? No, because they came here illegally. My ancestors came here legally. I repeat legally. I don't care if it's easier. There is a waiting process for immigrants and these people deserve to go to the front of the line. What about the people who follow the legal process and wait years?
