Hey some of us northerners, myself included, love chilly air and water temps...I think fall in New England is the best weather one could experience, hands down, but that's just my opinion. I also don't think the water's "cold" till it hits about 45, and it's a fair trade off for lack of crowds. I also avoid NYC like the plague, w/ the exception of the occassional museum trip, it makes me nervous down there, just too many ppl not enough space. Just a random northern perspective, I'll let you guys get back to hating each other.

new york city?!...yeah, that's one of the world's premiere surf destinations. Don't understand what you get out of it, but your sounding like a huge troll and solidifying the northeast guido stereotype. Stay in jersey - you don't fit in in FL and never will

btw, I moved to the west coast, but I loved FL when I was there. I've also surfed most coasts of oahu, maui, main mex, baja and costa rica, so I can say with exp that east florida is not that bad in the grand scheme of things. Every place has it's compromise

Seldom Seen, I love the NE, my Dad is from Gloucester MA, my step-mom is from Pittsburg PA, and I still have relatives in Saugus MA and areas of PA. I agree that it can be beautiful in some areas. But NYC??? I don't blame you for avoiding it like the plague.

I just had to throw that out there, especially on our first hot day up here, already thinking of fall..from a non-biased(at least in terms of this discussion) northern perspective.

i think nyc is the best place to live for an east coast surfer. great job market, easily get to jerz or long island depending on the wind. we are a catchers mit for just about every atlantic storm that heads north and west and almost always get offshore winds after it passes us by.. we wear trunks late june through october and due to the jetstream, the winter's aren't nearly as bad as other northern states and we get these things called seasons which are quite pleasant really. unlike the 9 month summer you get down south.. plus, it's the world's greatest city with everything you could ever want nearby. i regularly surf surprisingly good surf then take public transportation back to the city where i eat at the world's best restaurants and look at the world's greatest eye candy.

i'm not here brag or to bag on florida, i'm here to bag on floridians who think they live in some kind of premier surf destination. here's a newsflash, the only people who travel to east florida for waves are people from west florida so please get over yourselves. as a fellow floridian, you are embarrassing the rest of us..

I agree about the weather, it might get cold up here and we deal with our share of humidity, but it gets unbearably hot in Florida for a couple months. We get a nice range of temperatures throughout the year. Plus, when it's cold it keeps the crowds down.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal with Jersey or Florida is. Delaware is by far the best surfing destination on the east coast, with our miles of destroyed beach breaks...We have such a variety of waves... beach breaks, a point break, beach breaks, beach breaks....

All jokes aside, I will say the day after Tropical Storm Ernesto passed by us, we had some world class waves at North Side IRI, I wish i could find somebody who snapped some shots of that day. I saw a video of Jersey from the same day and it didn't even compare.

Yeah, who likes incredible food, women, art, music, and history anyhow?
Access to anything and everything a person could want within a stone's throw, AND surf. Area sucks.

You don't act like a middle aged man. You also don't have the literary skills of an educated one. Cool off and try to post with a little less anger.

It just started warming up down here, but the weather has been perfect all spring. Summer heat really is between June - October around here. Nov / Dec are typically pretty mild and it begins to cool off. Jan - March has cold spells but it's usually perfect weather. So really there is only 5 months of serious heat, but that's hurricane season so it's a bit of a trade off.

As someone who claims to be from here, you sure don't know a lot about it. You sound like most everybody i've ever met from NYC, they all say the same things, think everything is better in NY, but then they move down here and never go back, wonder why that is. I wonder why so many of yous guys move to FL but do nothing but talk about "back home". I hardly ever hear of anybody moving from FL to NY, so i'm tempted to call BS on your story about being from here, although you may be one of the random few who decided to leave. If you are truly from FL, we true Floridians are glad you left. Don't claim to be a Floridian when you live in NYC, THAT is embarrassing to the rest of us who really are from here.

And lastly, many of people in this very thread have said they have come to Florida to surf, and have had friends who have done the same, so by saying "the only people who travel to east florida for waves are people from west florida" shows how completely full of sh*t you really are.

You can have all those things. We got incredible food here, just like anywhere else in the world. Women? Don't even compare NY to FL, that's a joke, Art? Who cares about overpriced pieces of canvas, can find that anywhere in the world. History, what ever floats your boat.

So much anger. Can't we all just agree that the east coast sucks for surfing. If anyone says they moved to a part of the east coast just for surfing, they are obviously full of sh1t. As I said before, the guys in Cali must get a kick out of these posts.

Do I need to write out an explanation for you?

Your ability to communicate using proper sentence structure is rather poor. Punctuation is also an issue.
