Where has everyone had there best luck purchasing sunglasses. Any type of experience appreciated. Thanks
Who also owns "Sunglasses Hut." I buy mine at my favorite local tackle store, but I'm pretty partial to Costa Del Mar.... probably stupid since a pair only last me around a year on average, but they have the best polarization IMO. However, I'm a pretty serious fisherman so it makes a difference in those respects. If you're just stylin, go cheap. Bottom line: Buy from a local store, whatever brand you are going for.
I did a AC compressor change at my local surf shop. I told them I wanted Sunglasses for the labor. I was taken to the turnstile to chose. I went to the locked display case and chose 200 dollar Revos. Less than a year later, I lost them in piggy point in CR when some backwash slapped them off my face.
Costa's for fishing, but they never leave the case until i'm on the boat. too expensive to wear for social purposes. Ray bans and the new arnette's with the interchangeable arms are great. cheap and durable. if you need a nice pair for work (i work in the city) highly recommend going to sunglass hut. While I always try to support a surf shop, they have the nice brands, and after 1 year, you can turn your pair in and buy a new pair 1/2 off. not a bad deal to keep things fresh.
It was back when I had a real job and this was side work. They didn't pay 200 bucks for them. They were the best shades I ever had. Polarized and stylish. Some fish is looking really cool down there.
They can do that because they only sell the brands their parent company owns. They're basically still making 70% of the sale price in profit even when they sell you a pair half off.
Sea specs for surfing and anything that doesn't let sun in from the sides as long as they are polarized. try on a bunch and chances are even if you buy local, other than supporting the surf industry ( which we are all invested in ) the mega maker gets most of the profit.
As far as polarization goes- I got pair from west marine for 40bucks - the lens where far superior to other 100 glasses... I got ones with the amber color lens- I have never seen so much better when fishing!!! Even compared to my friends expensive big fishing name brand sunglasses! The company is called sunbelt -or S4. The ones I got a few years ago where stylish- but have not looked since I don't like to pay alot cause I break or lose them. Could one of you guys spell check my post?? It's hard to tipe on this phone.... Plus I'm mot as educated
I've been wearing a pair of Optic Nerve sunglasses for the past 6 years. They dont scratch and really good filtering. Wrap around. I bought them at a bicylce shop. $50. Totally worth it.
I've had my Knockarounds for about 2 years, they are lightweight and really nice for the price. My wife has had hers for about the same with no problems. Sick colors, customs, nice lenses. Can't beat it for the price. http://www.knockaround.com
Persol. Hand made in italy by old men with tiny tools drinking cappucinos. Glass polarized lenses. Outstanding quality and they didn't sell out to Luxottica, which is a huge evil company.
I was out a few weeks ago. It was dumpy and steep, kind of stormy. There was a guy out in sun goggles that kept getting his sh*t packed on the drop. Every time I saw him do it, I would sing to myself "LET THE GOGGLES HIT THE FLOOR LET THE GOGGLES HIT THE FLOOR"
