What do you do when you see sharks in the water with you?

Do you typically continue to surf when you see sharks in the water with you?

Was surfing small waves in VA Beach today and saw a 5 foot and a little 2 foot shark while riding separate waves. The little shark didn't bother me much mentally but the bigger shark caused me some concern. Decided to go to shore for a bit. Wife on shore didn't believe me until I pointed them out cruising in the cuts between sandbars. She freaked but also couldn't stop watching them. They stuck around for about 8 minutes that we could see.

small surf today is being generous, and I hope it stays that way. Please god, keep clean glassy head high perfection from our shore. In Cheeses name, allman.

I've never left the surf if sharks are showing themselves. But bluefish scare the heck out of me.

I somehow telepathically communicate with the sea creatures and have them fetch my toupee.

It depends on my testosterone level, sometimes I'm just to tired to give a damn.

I had a small black tip come right up on me (3 feet from my leg) on Sunday. I hightailed it. To be honest, whenever I see them out there and they are close, I get my ass outta there. Better to be a sissy than to be lunch.

Whatch talkin bout Willis? I don't want to be anything like me. I wanted to be like Gerry Lopez. or 2 Gerrys stacked on top of each other(he's a little runt. Those monster pipe waves in his pics are actually only knee high to me).

also, the color red scares them so keep a razor blade handy, and just give your finger a nick.

This doesn't add up...I thought Roy Stuart was vehemently opposed to shortboards.

I like Roy though. And I like the hell out of that video. The shark bait is awesome as is his jubilance post-conquest. What's really transcendental improv is the tow-in via apex predator in lieu of boatercycle. So much more natural and organic.

I'm all for paying homage to timeless, classic forum fodder like this (and my 8-10), but if there's not gonna be a daily cap on number of usages then we do at least have to forbid referencing it in simultaneous posts in different threads. This is if a post is just going to consist of said reference that could well be trademarked by its original authoring forumite.

Ah, there I go with joining the overzealous board legislation. Even a non-conforming anarchist maniac like me can be susceptible to affiliative assimilation at times. What?!
