Hahahaha! This thread is a classic!

At that size, all I do is keep my feet and hands out of the water 'till they're gone.

It depends on if they are feeding or cruising.

If they're feeding and I'm in the middle of the bait--I'm doing the Hokey Pokey an turning my ass around. If they're just cruising the lineup I try to peacefully coexist with them.

Just remember--people who get attacked by-and-large never see the shark until it's tasting one of their extremities. That said, you should worry more about the sharks you don't see.

North End...that's where I always see them.

On a related note, did anyone see the seal in the Jetty Monday around 10 A.M.? That sucker was a surprise. Apparently he has been hangin around Rudee Inlet since Saturday (according to the local media). I had not heard anything about it prior to its visit to 1st street.

I will go a step further...last Wednesday I was going over the CBBT to do some work in Cape Charles. Right at the tide line I noticed what was a descent sized animal carcass. It was chewed up, brown and there was something feeding on it. I hate to say chark, but it looked to be a bit of a feast/frenzy for whatever it was.

I've gotten to the point where I just pull my hands and feet outta the water for a minute, wait till I don't see anything (even though they are probably right there), then once i've fooled myself, I continue on as if I saw nothing. If it's as big or bigger than me and within range, i'm outta there though, only happened to me like 2-3 times in my life.

    Jeez..........

When you spot a shark the appropriate, and mannerly, response is to ax the shark what his/her intentions are......

"Excuse me sir/mam, may I be so bold to ax your current intentions?"

Now, I used to watch FLIPPER as a kid so I can speak the language of the sea. If you don't possess this skill, find you some FLIPPER episodes and start a watchin'. I also speak dog. So if you got problems with them on terra firma just give me a shout.

Anyways, dependant on the shark's response(i.e "Oh nothing just checking things out," "Hungry, man, need something to eat," or sometimes the thing will just ignore you, which is rather rude, but do NOT respond with like rudeness. Two wrongs don't make a right. Besides Martha Stewart could be watching the whole thing.) the correct answer will come.

East coast sharks are pretty cool. Yeah, they are active in Florida, but they rarely kill. I mean, if you were a shark in Florida wouldn't you bite people? I know I would. I mean you got Latin America in South Florida........Alabama in the northern part........Yankee senior citizens..........Liberaces..............fashion models........Jerry Seinfeld...............pain management centers.............Sean Slater................Who could blame a Florida shark for doing some bitin' ?

I'm not. I'm so UNRACIST that I actually joke aboot it all. I'm not politically correct and afraid of this taboo subject like most people.

People were placed on earth and colored accordingly..........

Cold, wet, misty climates........white boys.........Make 'em pasty that way you can see them in the fog.

Hot, hot, hot..............black guys...........skin to withstand the heat, and dark skin makes the mozzies and flies confused..

Hot......and cold.................Asian and Latino colors...........adaptable skin color for adaptable conditions......

Nahh, I'm not rascist, but hell yeah I make stereotype jokes. I'm of Irish descent and I've told a guy I worked with that he should take his stupid Mic-ass back on the boat to Belfast.

No I do NOT judge based upon color..............

I judge based upon class !! Ha !!

When I used to surf moss landing in California we would regularly see big great whites cruise by. . A lot of people didn't seem worried and would stay in and surf. I don't want to be eaten alive By.a.small bus with teeth I'm out. On the east coast I never get out unless I'm alone

HAHA, shhhh, she's legal now that we're married, don't go yelling La Migra or anything. Actually, she has lived most of her life right here in the good ole USA but as a military brat spent some time in Germany too. As for me, I plead the 5th, I definitely don't "fit the mold" of an Irish / Italian, lets just put it that way.
