Fun surprise (lowtide report was awful) session of ripable lil' high tide two footers... feeling good... rinse off and throw the boards in the back of the truck... parked in a neighborhood but no restrictions there... well known surf area out front

Older dude is walking his dog... keeps starring at me ...whatever I have a mohawk and a monster beard... wrap the towel around the waist... pull the trunks off... put some shorts on

Dude gets irate with me for changing under a towel... essentially make me out to be a child molester flasher perv...threatening significant/ legal action... taking down my info... his voice gets louder and high pitch...

despite my friendly assertion of a lack of public nudity and good manners... my visible "what the hell are you complaining about" expression apparently escalates the situation...This guys visibly pissed... not wanting any unnecessary attention or harm to come to me, my favorite parking spot, or the other local crew that enjoy it... I decide to fight the strong urge to escalate the situation further and stick to apologizing...

Whaaaa? 32 surfed since 13...Never heard of anything like this or had this happen... having done the towel change just about everywhere I have ever surfed...Anyone else?

I do this all the time, and it is even more awkward when changing out of a full suit. My buddy has even had the towel drop mid change. We have never had any issues, but I must admit most of the people near our surf spots are visitors.

happened to me in OCMD years ago. Old lady calls the cops and cops asked her if my towel dropped at all and when she said no, he told there was no crime.

I am not sure why our culture has such a problem with the human body. It was interesting living in Italy. The women there would regularly sun bathe topless or nude on public beaches. Nobody cared or made an issue out of it. Over here, if it wasn't a private beach, they would be charged with public indecency.

Unless he can describe the color and wrinkliness of your foreskin i'd say you are safe from legal action.

Cool that you didn't escalate the matter. That would have made it bad for the next guy. Better to just walk away from fools like that.

Please beware of this! Last year I got a ticket for disrobing in public! I almost laughed when the summer piece of **** cop told me! However in seaside park and tons of other towns you can get a ticket. In seaside park it is a 150 dollar fine plus 33 bucks court costs! I even gave the guy my pba card and he handed it back to me said I dont need this. ****ing ****head wanna be cop. Spend 7 hours in court. Thank god my step knows the right people. Got fine reduced to 88 bucks. **** seaside park summer cops. Beware and watch out this summer. Funny thing is a real cop would never give a surfer this kind of ticket.

just wear a lightweight pair of boardshorts under your suit and you can avoid this issue altogether

Good story. I honestly can't stand PBA cards though. Just knowing a cop or donating to a cause should not be grounds to dismiss a ticket. I tried to expalain the whole PBA thing to my friends out west and they were like "but isn't that just bribery? Isn't that illegal?"

Where'd this happen? Jax Beach? Bunch of old grumpy people there, and they're a little on edge since the brawl that happened during memorial day.

For all they know, you could have had an extra pair of shorts underneath your boardshorts or towel. In which case they're assuming

Wedgie city bro! Just disrobe in public and you can avoid the wedgie issue, which if you ask me, is a much bigger issue.
