Oh man, I forgot to say this..... A name is just a name. I know some of youse parents get all deep and stuff with it all. It doesn't mean anything. It's just a name. Giving your kid some "deep and meaningful" name doesn't seal his/her fate for greatness. Just remember your kid is only special to you, not to WalkingonH2O or me, and a name isn't going to change our minds. Not t'all. Just don't mispell the name on the birth certificate. Like if you want to name the bundle of joy, " Anthony" don't mess up and write, " Anfernee " or something like that.
I wanted to name my son after my Mom since she past a year before he was born. Her name was Ruth so I threw out to my wife the name Reef not thinking she would ever go for it well she loved it Of coarse every asshole has an opinion so they can all F themselves Six months after my sons were born(twins) I meet Reef McIntosh at the Quiksilver Pro he had no problem with us stealing his name
Johnny Cash is awesome. My wife is Lakota Sioux so it was set up perfect to have "a boy named Sioux". But I wasn't crazy about it. First son was born a month ago...Gaylord Bartholomew Utah!
Choose your son's name wisely. It's proven that certain names evince insubordination and churlishness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd7FixvoKBw
Thanks for all your suggestions. Reading this post was fun, and my wife and I laughed a lot, specially with viajerodevida's video! I liked Reef, Kai,Maverick and Carver and of course... Delaware ShredMachine. However, my wife was not fond of any... Anyhoo, for now the first name is "Oliver" with the nickname "Ollie". Not set in stone yet, though...
Boricua? How about something relating to PR? Girl - Natasha. After Natasha Sagardia Puerto Rican to win a gold medal at the ISA World Surfing Games Boy - Guarionex. After the Cacique that was in charge of the village of Utuado. He was originally from the Dominican Republic, but was forced to flee to PR after the Spanish conquest of Hispaniola. In PR, he became Cacique for Utuado and together with Gueybana, Uraycan and Orocovix, battled the Spaniards but lost and was sent to Spain in a slave ship. The ship disappeared with all hands on the way to spain. Or "Cofresi" - Roberto Cofresi was a Puertorrican pirate, but more of a Robin Hood personality. You can look that one up yourself.
Words of wisdom right there. Names don't define your kid, your kid defines the name. Before Kelly Slater, did the name "Kelly" have anything to do with surfing?
