Yesterday, a little spot in RI forecasted as fading 3-4 ft with clean offshore, turned out to be shoulder to head high and clean. the tide may have helped the spot as it was incoming. because there were waves during TS Andrea over the weekend, it turned out a lot of ppl passed off this swell. 5 ppl out and sets were non stop. prob had 25 good waves from 5pm - 8 pm (even made it home half way through the first of the bruins game - I live 30 mins from the break). One of the sickest sessions I have had in a long time. Anyone else score big time yesterday evening in RI??
Not in RI and not as good, but yesterday as I was driving home from work after a frustrating day, I decided to swing by the beach just to look and saw some clean thigh-waist high peelers coming through. Ran home to throw on my wetsuit and grabbed the longboard, which I hadn't ridden in a while. Surfed for 1.5hrs until sunset with 1-2 other guys on the jetty. Waves were nothing crazy and tide was too high at the end, but I must have taken off on 20 waves, just constantly paddling and going on everything. Nice sunset too. Super fun little session that was not expected at all.
shut up, I can say what state I surfed in. that's cool you ^ got some little longboard waves. when I go out in small stuff like that on my shortboard lol I paddle for everything and think of it as a pretty decent work out!
Hey now don't get bent......... But when did RI get so good? Judging from this website you'd think it was the greatest place in America. I do tend to believe that some people judge wave heights a bit on the bigger side than it actually is........ I have traveled to RI numerous times in the past, and well, it was nothing like people on this site hype it to be. Has the universe changed somehow? What is going on here? Every day someone is on here saying RI is or was chest to head high.......all of the time. Please be mature and don't respond with a volley of insults. I am NOT insulting RI people. I am just utterly confused.
Waist shoulder high can be misinterpreted and change from spot to spot. I've been out during "shoulder" high waves and because of varied factors the waves can seem larger/ smaller. Who really cares . . .also I'm a lot taller than most surfers my waist high could be chest to shoulder for someone else
it was prob waist to chest at the beaches and common spots but there are less known spots near by that break bigger. my buddy joe posted a quick shot of last evening. I am not sure if this was even a set coming through but as you can see it was quite nice.
Discussing wave heights is a matter of integrity to me, if anything I play it safe and call it smaller that I perceive it to be...hinmo that's a fun spot.
Hey boys...head, shoulders, knees...as long as it's not toes, we are getting more than we can ask for these months. We've had some straight up toilet days the last couple weeks so I'm good with anything rideable even it's not somewhere from 8-10' up to 23'!!! Btw the Friday swell that became a forecast myth yesterday looks like it's back. We will see what actually happens tomorrow but I'm an optimist.
Wednesday pm, post work... small (waist high bomb everyonce in awhile)... "What happens in RI should stay in RI " HAHA!!... Theres video footage of this spot uploaded DAILY on surfline. It will never be like it was before cell phones and the internet. get over it.
Goin to jersey for 23 footers first then RI...packing my gun, SUP, and live video feed only. See you kooks there!
