Glassed in fins

True that. Everyone wants something for nothing and expects it too. Professional work like you do doesn't come out of nowhere. It's from years of experience that the people walking into the shop haven't put forth or don't want to, and that's when you have to open your wallet when you want top-notch and can't DIY. Learning to maintain your own equipment for a pastime is not only cost-effective, it both keeps you in the game without delay of inoperable gear and it gives you an appreciation for what you love in a different light.

 

To true. I personally stop at fin housings though or anything where its not just a simple dab of suncure. Now I have my old beater hotline board from the early 90s that I have done more work on myself as more of a necessity when I was younger and not able to afford much in ways of surfing gear or shocking surfing repair.... but I also used duck tape and straight up fiberglass hull repair I borrowed from my dad back then when in a pinch.

Example is I got a free FCS GoPro mount that I have yet to even think about installing on any of my boards and contemplating putting it on my kids soft top boards for fear of damage or just not wanting to deface my board.

To get it back on topic: Glassed in fins seem to be a favorite for people who like a stronger set up fins for performance that either was custom made based on riding style or just their taste. FCS housing is great for people who swap fins based on conditions/style and easier transportation options.

And I like cheeseburgers...
