I'm just enjoying the newby, AtlanticO, getting his first taste of an old school SJB pie. I'm on your side here but it seems in the last 30 minutes or so everyone has gotten back to playing nicely. Good work men. All are still invited for Thanksgiving. Emass, you came out spitting piss and vinegar much like AtlanticO but I'm sure he'll calm down and find his place just like you did. I don't even know what we're talking about anymore. I'm hungry.
View attachment 8135 View attachment 8136 View attachment 8137 View attachment 8138 View attachment 8139 few more. wish i had the new PNW 'superbank' shots from last years trip. too bad it breaks 1-2 times a year. maybe
Those are real nice A-frames. seldom, I agree. It would definitely be worth it though! Pretty steep challenge on a day breaking hard and fast and not so clean.
I thought the same thing, Clemmy. Which is why I like the chip on AO's shoulder. Piss & vinegar. Love that phrase. I never know what we are talking about and I'm always hungry. I better steam these lobsters before they die off and get necrotic.
should have also mentioned that my younger brother lived in WA for a while too. and that f*ucker don't work. just surfs. and he loves that place, but was able to constantly score cheap flights to CA or wherever to take the edge off. he recently moved out here (dead broke, no car) a month ago, and cries non-stop about the waves. swears he's gonna walk back if he has to. even started researching bike and walking routes across the US. lol. too funny. he thinks all the East Coast pics are doctored. im sure he'll change his mind come fall. oh yeah, PBJ the outer banks guy. this is no lie... his name is richard d!ck. i swear
it's acually a rivermouth left that hugs a point outta frame. reverse rincon style. goes forever some days. where the pic was taken is where you have to paddle from though. you can try to run down the beach and float the river in to the lineup, but an old lady in the house on the point WILL come out and put a shotgun right in your grill. she's up at 4am everyday too. this stretch of coast you can legally own land to the lowest low tide line.
Or the 1st Hurricane / TS that produces. Really though, it's hard to imagine it till you've experienced it. I remember Hurricane Floyd like it was yesterday.
Good luck MattyBrews. That's exciting stuff. Have traveled the coast in those two states once before and will go back at least once. Beautiful, and in my opinion a MUCH greater sense of "removal" than places along the east coast. My oldest brother left coastal New England with his wife for Hood River (both big wind surfers) many years ago. They never looked back. Yes. Never a bad time to reference Johnny.
Man, you sons b!tches had to get me talking about substances didn't youse. I just got over a friggin two hour crazy period remembering my past life as a young Puerto Rican boy in North Philly. Man, I was all sorts of ..........well, just kind of wacky. I mean what kind of lunatic fantasizes aboot North Philly? I even started listening to Power 99 FM and was bouncing around the house 'membering the good ol' days. That kind of sucked. Man, I felt just like Rick James - crazy. Nice pictures. You guys have done a good job today on the threads. Pat yourselves on the back and have a few beers after work or whatever it is y'all do during the daylight hours. Good day and evening to y'all.
What the hell happened to this thread? My attention was captured 100% for the last 8 pages... the short and sweet: I have visited the Pacific Northwest several times and love it. I am at a point in my life where I have the funds and freedom to move out there. Surfing is just OK local to where I am, but DE is mountainless. I don't plan on surfing to be a daily activity for me, but I wanted to know if there are enough breaks around (and they don't have to be spectacular) that I could get out once in a while if I so desired. I am not moving to PNW for surfing...I am moving there for the scenery and abundant locales for outdoor recreation. I have been there many times, I love it, and I like the vibe out there. I also brew for a living, so it's a good region to be in with my skill set. Yeah, there's a bunch of emo kids and hipsters, but there's d-bags of all kinds everywhere you go. It doesn't make up the entire PNW population. Nobody's putting a gun to my head to talk to them. Hell, down here I've got ignorant rednecks and thugged out white kids. Thank you for the info, encouragement, and well wishes everyone. And don't worry, I plan on getting one last round of fall and winter surf on the east coast while I earn up some more funds before I bounce. And PJB and AtlanticO, I hope you guys can laugh about all of this over a beer one of these days. Cheers!
Go dude, even if it doesn't work out, it's good to live in different locales. You learn more and become more wordly. Some day, if you keep traveling and have adventures you may become the equivalent of the Dos Equis Most Interesting Dude in the World for your microbrew. Now Matty, what's this aboot not having surfing as your main thang in life? We need to help change your mind aboot that. Maybe the NW can do that. Really dude, surfing is much better than walking around in the woods, even if you eat pyscilocybin. And shoot, up in logger land you have to do some trail walking to get to spots. So it's a win-win. And thanks for the well-wishes aboot me and Atlantic0..........but that wasn't a fight. When I'm mad I hurl expletives and terroristic threats. I'm just a little bit insane......just a little bit, especially when people mention mind-altering substances. Especially when I'm being told aboot the orgins of New Jersey's pride and joy. Yeah, most of Jersey's reputation is mostly negative, but for God's sakes we have the quality diesel. None of y'all can take that away from us. Nobody. Hey, who's going to Porthleven?
watch where you go hiking on your spiritual journey's mattybrews. lots of shady backwoods stuff going on. nobody will hear you scream. especially where national forest land borders a rez. natives hunt on these borders. they sit there and wait for anything that moves (pilgrims included) to step over the line. or be close. but, they sure as hell don't wake up early for sh!t! something to think about.
I think you may have me figured out wrong. Spirituality is for the birds man...no magic men for me. I mean yeah, I know some hippies, but how else am I gonna score some dank around here? I'm just looking for a nice change of scenery and a place that's a little more exciting than where I live now. Thanks for the heads up though. I'll do my best to steer clear of the danger zones.
