The past two weeks I have scored waves in Rodanthe. This past weekend Saturday was fun with Stomach high sets and occasional Chest High peaks and always the waves had some @$$ to them. In town (nags Head KDH,/Kitty Hawk) it was barely rideable, well work the drive for sure. Its been pretty much waist to stomach high since June 28th in Rodanthe, I haven't scored this many days of waist high plus surf in July in a long time. Buxton saw Shoulder to Head high waves a couple of weekends ago also. Honestly I have just been lucky, had the week of the fourth off, so scored waves almost 9 days straight, then both days this weekend were fun, a little smaller yesterday but the waist high sets were fun once the tide got off the bars. Yes wasit to stomach high waves in Rodanthe are fun, plenty of power down there to enjoy waist to stomach high surf. Lee- I haven't surfed VB since mid June where it was over knee high.
DP's stoke is strong like bull. Summer 2010 was ****ing rad. This summer has been pleasantly consistently surf able. More so than I can recall anyway. Someone is always gonna be a contrarian. PJB is always weird and often verbose.
Hey how'd you do on that test you had a month or two ago? Weird? Dang right, man. I am no commoner. Verbose? Well, there's alot floating through my brain waves, hombre. I have to be excessively wordy.......using too many words. Dude, five words submissions are pointless in my world. Plus, man, Spicoli's got me beat these days. I'll have to become more verbose........excessively wordy.......using too many words. Ha............. Yeah, summer 2010.......and fall of 2011. Winter 2012-2013 was a bit overrated in my book.
It's nice when ya heading down and have no expectations waist high set every once in awhile stomach high sets would roll in nobody in the water except a couple of kooks and used a new board which work well
I'm with you on this. I have a great time in waist high waves, even smaller if its really clean. You do need the right board to have the most fun. I am not a long boarder and ride my 5'9" in everything under chest high. Even caught and passed a couple of log riders this past weekend that dropped in on a right when I was on the left side of the peak. Guess they didn't realize I was going right, either way you can't ride a true short board unless you are a 110 pound 14 year old. What a great weekend for warm fun waves, I surfed 7 hours on Saturday.
Checked the webcam early Sunday morning. I chose not to believe what I saw with hopes that the waves weren't ankle-high breaking on sand so I drove to the beach. Stupid webcam was spot-on. Hung my head, sniffled, shed one tear and drove home. I get one fun session a week in the summer...f***ing way she goes. One is better than none.
Damn that sux, you'll be rewarded just for going, wave gods won't let that act of faith go unnoticed, just hang in there Bub
i for one have loved the the heavy marine layer every morning in NJ obscuring the cams and keeping the casual surfer at home and our dawn patrol sessions crowd free. south jersey was real fun for a couple of hours on sunday morning. waist with plus sets, glass and nice peaky waves...
Still studying and still being a ****, sorry. Overrated? Compared to? I beg to differ, this winter was the best I've seen in the last 5 years. The waves weren't all that big, but super consistent. We scored big time and it was pretty mild as far as the air and water temps.
I hope so. That was a great summer. Lots of big named storms giving us days of head high and much bigger waves each. This summer has been good. There's been something to surf almost every day. Sat and Sunday showed chest high waves with some push. Nothing epic but surfed all weekend and not really crowded.
Was on vaca last week and had some descent waves all week.Took my brother outlaw for the first time in like 10 years for him and he was killin it.Glad to see someone else stoked.I had my first triple sesh so that was pretty cool.I think one of my next goals is to go skiing and surf the same day.
Sick winter and consistent, yes. Mild temps? No, no Brazos!! Guess we aren't in similar spots. Air was commonly 8-18 degrees and water a searing 36+ w/o windchill. Can't even remember what it was like by now since I'm going in just baggies no top now but I do know it was cold as balls. But stokey!!!
It was fun yesterday (Monday) evening around 6-7PM off VB (Dam Neck). It was only 3ft, but an improvement over what we've been seeing the past several weeks. We'll take what we can get.
There's a pretty cool write up-on it on surfline, in the swell stories section I think...wasn't it Felix that stalled and sent solid groundswell for over a week? I know Luis is special for me, that was my first introduction to sizable point surf, never forget that day. And agreed on Saturday, pleasantly surprised.
