Better detection is actually key in the increased cancer rates. Also, it doesn't help that we are producing more cancer causing emissions. Our thirst for more energy and more breeding just pollutes the world more and more. It ain't a secret. We pollute our planet and live on preservatives, then act surprised when we have health issues.

I agree that at this time we should all grow our own food. but personally I believe in the rights of all people, not just mine alone. and many people don't have the time or space to grow their own food.
the GMO issue is a political/civil rights issue. and it doesn't help that the government makes it harder and harder for organic farmers to produce organic foods, and sustenance farmers and community canneries to operate through increasing regulations that forces them to shut down.
so to just grow your own food and turn your back on the issue is apathetic. sustenance farming is only part of the solution.
FYI if you drink bottled water, I suggest you stop. there are estrogen mimickers in the plastic that leach into the water. along with the linings in many canned goods, juice boxes that the children drink, to go coffee cups, and snack food wrappers.
too much estrogen in the body not only lowers testosterone, but is also the cause of numerous illnesses.

Well shoots, brah! Guess I gotta cut out baked beans, Capri Sun (not just for children...), Dunkins, and Milky Way. Shucks. Those are the 4 food groups! What does that leave me with?!?!

Maybe you can go start a non-profit and piss away all donated funds on pamphlets people will toss to the curb. A rabble-rouser calling others out on apathy? Wait a minute...forget that...calling me out on being devoid of excitement and passion? Have you read my posts? GUYS...this cat is saying I'm a "moderate individual" HAHA!! Can you believe that?!

Dude, you had me on your side with all of this until you threw out the apathy bomb because I'm not marching on Washington about this. Are you even? Maybe you should. Would have the potential to change the situation just a bit more than rounding up a bunch of surf bums. You want the nation/government to embrace this change you're calling for? Pose it as a legit civil rights issue and get a few token minorities to be the poster boys/girls.

I hate it when they put chemi in there brah. Just keep the labels of apathy away from me and I'll do you a solid and only buy foods that don't come with labels. See? The world is already a better place! So glad we had this conversation.

That is my problem with your threads. You can't stick to one subject and mix in other BS. PET is in plastic bottles and is not leached into the water. My lab at my last job kept distiller water in PET bottles. This was used to as a base for water soluble compounds that needed to be tested. If anything was leached into the water, we would have seen it in our LC/MS testing. You may be talking about BPA, but that was only a feature found in rigid plastic bottles, and has been banned for use in any product intended for children.

true true and sorry for the apathy comment.
vote with your dollars! pass on information regarding GMO's to friends and family too. you'll be surprised how little people know about them or even aware of them. spreading information and making people conscious of the issue helps the fight.
it only took 5% of the US population to start the Revolutionary War.

hey man, chill. I was only responding to spiccoli's comment on estrogen mimickers.

the FDA banned the use of BPA in baby bottles and sippy cups. that's it! certain companies that make baby products have voluntarily stopped using BPA, but many still do. unless it says BPA free, those juice boxes that parents put in their kids lunch box contain BPA.
unless consumers do their own research as to what contains BPA, they unknowingly by products containing them unless its labeled. but even the labeling of plastics can be confusing for the uneducated consumer. a lot of food packaging still contains BPA.

this post is off topic, yet it shows the corruption within the FDA which tied into the GMO topic, and the politics behind it.

The problem with EU is that they import a ton of GM grain and other foods. Ok, so they don't want it grown there. I see that as a way to protect their domestic agriculture. However, they still have no problem importing GM crops and feeding it to the general population.

I take offense to your Jack Daniels comment. It's been a cure all in my family for generations. What the hell is a GMO anyways? I don't have time to read all the crap on here. Someone sum it up in a couple sentences please.

It's a genetically modified organism. Monsanto has created a seed that needs no pesticide to protect it because it's already in it. you can tell which plant it is by dousing it in Round up and it doesn't affect it.

since 1998 the EU is required to label all GMO foods/stuffs.

Like Devo sang back in da 80's, we here in America have freedom from choice. (great video too, Hosoi and Cabalerro skating that pool.)
