Wonder if Shane is thinking of a quick strike to the Caribbean ride his namesake. Never though about it but if a storm bore my name I would make every effort to get on it.

Yeah, it looks like it could be a nice little wavemaker! I'm really getting sick of the side shore slop we've had lately.

Let's not jinx it before it even gets started, too much time between now and then, anything can happen at this point, but yeah, If I were Shane I'd be hunting this one down...

What's up with the tropical depression that's riding tandem with it 0.4lat 1.8lon away? That came out of nowhere. Is that a separate entity from Dorian or an offshoot and how will those two interact?

AO/OO called this one days ago.

Good luck on that!! I really need to get a funboard/longboard for the ankle/knee high days here. All ive got is a 6' shortboard and man is that hard to catch knee high slop on.

Yeah, you are better off having a 9' board here on the east coast, if you want to have the most fun out there on the small days. And small days make up about 80% of the year.

+1 Definitely get yourself a log, If you aren't able to go new then get a used one in the $150-$300 range, if you get the right one you'll have it for a long time or you can always sell it for nearly what you paid for it if you take care of it.

I hope it's flat! I hope the water is cold! I hope it's full of jellies with their stinging testicle full of venom.

I hear ya. Ive been looking into getting a longer board, at least 7'6 up to 9'. My friends been riding a 7'6 on the knee/waist high days here and he looks like hes having the best time while im struggling to catch waves on my 6'. Hopefully ill find something soon that i cant pass up on.

Yeah ive been looking around for a used log. And i take really good care of my boards, so the selling part wouldnt be a problem.

This is the slow time of the year when I think to myself, "I wonder if I still know how to surf..."

Just talked to Mr. Dorian's agent/manager........

Shane does plan on dropping previous plans to hang around Puerto Escondido or various South Pacific islands if this tropical system comes to fruition. Though he has dedicated himself to chasing the big stuff, he finds the novelty of surfing marginal waves produced by a storm bearing his last name a monumental opportunity.

And sorry southern boys, but Jersey is a small wave paradise today. 3-4', offshore and throwing out the bubs. I'm suprised Shane Dorian didn't show up..........
