Since it's not "Jon" I'm really hoping your last name is either Jeremy (for your sake) or Burgundy (for our sake).

Oh oh, he's been reincarnated. Tlokien, do you know Tom Cruise? Oh man, remember when Tom Cruise and John Travolta locked themeselves in Stan's closet?

    Howard?

Jeez, I think we're obsessed with finding out the dude's last name.

Looks like I'll just have to make this a contest. Winner gets a 6 pack of their choice (or join me for vodka drinks)...Take out only, no delivery...p/u at CB this weekend. Good guesses so far, but no winners. For some reason I do have some vague memory of Tom C and John T asking about a closet though. Not sure why, but I did party really hard in the 80s-90s. Could just be a weird flashback.

Such a pleasant thread. Welcome Ron (McDonald?). I live in NJ, but have good friends down in CB and always enjoy the vibe of the area.

I'm impressed with the dedication of your 6 year old starting to save to buy her own board, and applaud you for making her work towards it. No labor laws down there?! Just kidding, I crunched the numbers, and a reasonable allowance combined with the early onset surf obsession make her exciting purchase very doable.

Welcome to SI Ron, love the stoke you have, it's never too late to learn and progress, keep at it and you'll be surprised how good you can actually get, just takes time in the water, consistent / persistent effort, and a sense of humor. You seem to have that covered, so just keep it up!

    L. Ron Hubbard.

Ditch the vodka and go have a beer at Fat Pelican. Natty Greene's "Freedom" IPA is my current steez.

It's Ron God Jesus Selassie... gotta be. Welcome to SI!

One rule Ron: Thou shalt not evoke the name of RTP suburbanite hell on SI. Too many expensive keyboards get puked on at the very though of that forsaken town and its inhabitants comparing their Benz's, Lame Rovers and Lexi (plural for Lexus?) while playing the game "Who Can Act Whiter?"

I need to get in the water... I feel dirty now.

    BURGUNDY!!

    The count is already 6!

I second the congrats on how awesome your daughter sounds. You're post was refreshing, thanks. The SI forum is far from mellow at times. It also gets far from surfing related, even on a surfing related post. You'll see. But still informative, and entertaining (usually).

@seldomseen - good one, too bad someone let them out
@bungalowparkbob - another good guess, but another miss...as for the lil one, she's a great kid, she bought a 6' soft top fish shape beater back in April. Picked it out herself. Chores, good report cards, etc., saved for 6 mos and she made it happen. She loves it and is very proud of herself, as she should be. She's wakesurfed it now too. Best moment was when her cousin who's the same age was marveling over it and she told him "maybe if you'd stop blowing your money on cheap toys and candy you could get one too". Yeah, the grinch's heart grew 3 sizes that day.
@DawnPatrolSUP - thank you sir, and I will certainly keep plugging along. We have a couple SUPs too, and love getting out on those, although I haven't really gotten into trying to catch waves yet, still prefer the log for that. But fun to chase the porpoise and sharks around.
@dlrouen - unfortunately beer doesn't play nice with my blood sugar, but one or two can't hurt, right? Natty makes some good stuff, but I'm more into less hops/Ambers. We promised the kids a trip down to the arcade Fri night when we get down, would be a shame if I took a wrong turn and end up at the Pelican for a pint or two while they are playing games. That is if I don't accidently stumble to the ocean and try to catch something as the tide drops before the sun goes down. Will have to see what kinda mood the wife is in before I try that, not good to piss her off at the start of the weekend, she's small and fierce...like a honey badger.

    @Mad Atom - thanks!
@Erock - Understood! It shall never be mentioned again. Let me know if I need to buy you a new keyboard.
@OC&SC-83 - Manisses must be a prophet, is he any good at surf forecasts? And thanks for the kind words about my lil one. I actually have two, one is 21 and a total brat. Just kidding, she's a great kid, just a brat b\c the first time I took her surfing she popped up on the first wave and rode across every break to the sand. Made it look stupid easy. Guess being a gymnastics instructor helps a little bit with balance. As for SI, I've been lurking for a while and seen where some threads go...I just paddle away from those threads and look for a less crowded one.

Up to 8, only 992 to go...

That might be a lowball estimate if his stoke starts out at what mine's been in recent weeks. He could do it in a month and a half with some commitment.

Nice to virtually meet you tlokein!

tlokein, if you've been following the board for a while, you know we like to quote a lot of classic films.

@EmassSpicoli - nice to meet you too. But don't worry, I'll fade fast after I get through all the howdys...your trophy is safe for now.

I guess its appropriate if someone gets nasty then to to just say "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!"

Glad to meet you all, I'm heading out and heading home to pack for CB.

    Ola Senior Ron,

It's always most cool to see the surf thru the eyes of your stoked kid. They grow fast, so treasure the times, and know that it is not the waves themselves that are most memorable (although this can be debated at a later time), but the times spent in the ocean with friends and family that make it so magic. Keep the stoke alive and keep living the dream!!!

I'm going with Hellboy and Son of Anarchy... Ron Perlman

    Plan B is Ron Paul.

Either way - keep the stoke and welcome to SI.

@Ola sisurfdogg - agreed. And looking like it's going to be flat as a board this weekend so she'll be riding the small stuff and I'll just feel the stoke from her. :)
@Gfootr - Sorry, missed the net on both. Thanks for the welcome.
@skulldog - thanks. Luckily she's a cute honey badger, so I haven't fed her to the toothies.

et al...never realized there were so many famous Ron's. Contest closes in 45min, then I'm outta here.
