Seriously Boards are great. But the thing that fantasize me is the rent. Its quite affordable.

Mass, back before FCS we used to travel with glass ons all the time. I made fin protectors out of foam. I cut them out about a half inch higher and wider than the fin then duct taped them together around the fin. the extra height absorbs any impacts and transfers that energy to the foam instead of the fin.

Thanks! Very similar to what I had planned. What if I had a whole slab of foam and cut out slits for the fins? There would be a cushion of a few inches at the bottom like you mention. This way, they are in a full mold and should prohibit any side to side flex. Do you think that would be even better?

that will work too. just make sure the foam is pretty firm and is above the fin tips at least a half inch.

Great. Any considerations for how to handle the entry rocker? I have removable foam nose guards (for transport type) so that'll help. Will be filling all excess space in the bag with lots of cushion. Two sticks going in there.

rails fins and nose are you worst areas for damage. I'll throw towels and stuff in for extra padding. I use pipe insulation that is split for the rails.

Yup, got the pipe insulation and putting mad towels in there. Any other considerations? Planning on bubble wrapping critical areas then tight syran wrapping it all together. Flash it with long cardboard after that?

I used Styrofoam packing from computers and TVs to guard my fins.

if you have a car you could drive to Centro America Surfboards 10 min away in Hermosa, and then surf what i would call better waves in Hermosa. If not then try Carton or Wooster in Jaco (I think Wooster is in Jaco).
