Firewire Dominator on CL

Depends on the condition of the board. With the information supplied, I guess I'd pay somewhere between $0 and $480.

 

Sorry for the sarcastic response... Firewires seem to run around $700 - $750 new so if you can be sure that it's actually been well taken care of/VERY lightly used, and you really want that board then $400 $450 might be a reasonable price given what the "yuppie" probably spent for it IF its in near new condition. Can you be sure this yuppie hasn't spent the last year with the board on the roof of his car driving around town looking cool while not surfing?

Would you consider spending nearly as much for a used Firewire as it would cost you to get a brand new locally shaped board? There must be guys in the VA Beach OBX area that will make you a nice custom for $500.

 

Is it a 6.4?

 

I bought mine for $350 and it came with a small ding on one of the rails and some funky epoxy patch job on the tail. I did a little repair work on it and it surfs great. I would say if the thing is repairable then you are getting a decent deal. $400 sounds more like it though.

 

i've been eyeballing the "Fugget" (even wider and flatter than the nugget) myself, but yeah, buy a nugget. I don't know how to fix firewires so I probably wouldn't bother with one. They ARE sick though. I really like the potato series.

 

IMO TOO hard to fix. These boards for some reason seem to "breathe". I've repaired the old ones with a vent plug, and a newer one w/o the vent plug. Parts of the inside are very porous and dont hold the resin long enough for it to set up, other times it seems like air is seeping out of the core, and immediately starts bubbling up your repair by exerting air pressure from the core outward. Not easy at all to fix with your normal resin/cloth/q-cell. They may be great boards but is that much "tech" really necessary for your or my surfing?

 

You won't be disappointed, I have a Nugget(6'4") and it is a great all-around board, easy to get into pretty much anything. Also, have a sweet potato and can't say enough about the board.

I have six boards and it seems like I pull the one Firewire off the wall almost every time. I love that thing.

 

my buddy swears by his also . thats why I bought it. Tried to get used to it . just never felt comfortable with it. Im gonna sell it and get a basic poly thruster. 450 at rv

 

I was the exact opposite.. The Firewire was the board I never grabbed, so I sold it.
Rode it a couple of times and liked it, but not as much as others

 

hit up power and light. fun place.

 

Power and light is a fun bar district down town. they closed a street, put a big stage at the end and a dome over it. all the bars on it have sweet patios. lots of people there.

 

firewire will last a lot longer. I had a nugget and the glass job wasn't very good. dinged and cracked all the time and I was very careful with it. Of course the constructions are different, but I have a sweet potato in the fst construction and love it to death. I would buy the dominator around 400 maybe a bit more if he gives you a good set of fins and it's in good shape
