Clemson my mind is trained to think and I believe the fin is just fine. Remember that I don't have slashing and competition style menuvers in mind. I want speed. The annular wing has the least Ammont of induced drag which is drag caused by the end of an aerodynamic appendage.. Turbulence which increases with speed. The tunnel does have more skin friction drag but skin friction decreases with speed while induced drag increases with speed. So I would think that a closed loop annular wing fin would be conducive to achieving better speed.

I'm basing these statements off research about annular wings and also reading the history of surf fin experimentation. All of which are siteable.

It's hard to step out of the box sometime.

Ok. I've learned not to argue with a stewartonian when they tell you they're right. You're making a board for how you want to ride and that's good enough for me.

Haha I'm not a pure stuart minded guy. I love my 10' surf tech long board which uses single fins thrusters and ever a quad set up. I just like what feels good. Behind a motor boat the tunnel feels good. But it is fact that they have less induced drag I'm not making that part up so have some faith in eccentric thought. You as a hws guy should be all about this kind of stuff

I would really like to keep the critique of this board within Yanks direct attention. I think it could be hilarious.

I remember when people thought Gruvi was Yankee. Fun times here.

Please, for the love of gad, could one of you Stuartfanboys show me even a basic fluid model of this thing and why they think it will perform better than other designs? Roy always enjoyed arguing the point, but never seemed to do any modeling. In my short time working with fluid dynamics in college, I could easily show how an airfoil would perform. The issue I see, is that most of the people copying Roy, don't even really understand Roy's designs. RS is good at talking the talk, so they don't seem to want any real data. Not saying it doesn't work, but I would like to see a reason why.

Pulling a board behind a boat is a completely different feel, and requires a completely different design, than surfing on a wave. Thus the difference in wakeboard designs vs surfboard designs.

To be perfecty clear I've never said it will work better. I'm simply a curious animal who understands the theory. The theory which I've stated is all about induced drag and skin friction drag. Also the theory is based around a feeling you will get in the water such as minimal rail to rail roll resistance, in some cases but not mine ( due to the foiling done to my fin) tunnels will help the tail plane, my tail is very wide so this really doesn't apply. Like I said I'm a curious animal. Aren't we all? Also Remember I do not anticipate the performance to exceed or compare to a thruster or quad not saying it's worse it's just competely different.

As for Roy's designs they Are disigned for pure surfing so forget any stigmas you may have with his board. They don't nose walk and they don't make performance style menuvers but they do go fast and they do look good. Me personally, I'd rather have a board that's fast and functional in the sense of wave catching ability and pure surfing.

Do I test my tunnel fin in an air lab ? No. Do I know how aerodynamics and lift works? Yes. I know that the tunnel gives me a strong angle of attack and I know that it feels good behind a boat for now.

I will continue to update people on my curious experience with the tunnel fin right here on yanks thread.

I wonder if this is a Gruvi sighting

Tom C. of Pungoteague looks over the beach Monday after a morning of surfing at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island. The busy summer season is coming to a close, but Cooper will surf year-round - one of the perks of being a local.

    Yah mon.
That charity extends to the Gnomefanboys, too.
(classic turn of the phrase 'stuartfanboys' by Brewengineer, props to him for that)

Well, you haven't come up with anything original in quite some time, my balding friend.....hopefully, this will keep you primed to posting action. Or, you could just read aloud any of my posts, as you seem to love doing, and get creative & perhaps post an original composition or two here.

Chucky, here's something to do during the flat spell that has driven you 'round the bend:
Participate in an 'ego-off' with your compadres clem, the shredmachine & the gnome.
That's right....you guys get together & see whose ego is more inflated. But keep the results to yourselves. As a favor to humanity.

It may be a bit of a challenge locating your buoy the shredmachine. Rumour has it that he's been grounded by his parents, and his computer locked away.

Since you are now my new personal troll, and you have taken such a Freudian interest in all things Yankee, then you, chuck-chuck, should read ALL of my posts just like your reach-around broaster clem & file a full report.
