Going to be in Maine next week and want to try to get some waves if there is swell. Anyone up there have some good spots to check out.
Another member by the name of newenglandflatness started a similar thread in mid-July. He was also looking for spots in the Acadia area. I don't think he found much, but you could reach out to him. Sadly, I've never been up that way.
Down east Maine "mid coast Maine is very rocky and there are abundant outer islands so unfortunately surf isn't too good unless you have a boat and can get to the point breaks which are on the islands. There's undoubtably thousands of unknown point breaks on these small islands. You should look at a map and see which part of mt desert island is exposed to open ocean if any at all. Your best option is getting a kayak or sup and seeing if you can find something. Or have a motor boat with that you would find something I'm sure. But I don't think there is any swell. I'm sorry
^^^ in checking the map it looks like the eastern part of the island is the only part not shadowed by other islands. Otter Cove, Thunder Hole (great name?), and Newport Cove would be areas that I'd scope out. Good call on the kayak...worst case scenario you just paddle around and enjoy the beauty.
I know those spots well. Unfortunately, haven't seen anything break there. Thanks for the suggestions though.
