Can you say blackened Hog Fish on the grill poolside tonight? I thought ya could. The Gulf may suck in the surf category most the time but it offers up other fruit for the taking, if ya got the sack that is.

I do feel a regim change is in order here in the US too but within the law. Keep in mind in 1800 the new england sttes threatend to leave the union due to issue with the Federalists and Jeffersons amin, did any one call them traitors, no. Also several staes threated so Secced during the revolutionary war as they did not want to fight England. Hell some propose a new state of Southern CA, in 2006 some areas of Alaska tried to Seceed and for a new state but were blocked. I find it a little ironic that a country founded by Secceding from England now has laws agianst it's states doing the same thing when oppresed!

PUMP !!!! It was all aboot slavery. The FIRST REASON listed there was all aboot slavery and even mentioned SLAVERY !!!!!!

    Every reason there was slavery-dependant/influenced.........

Why would the south crush the north? Dude, if you just take all the "Blue" states vs all the "red" states......the blue has everything. The money, the power, the influence, the infrastucture, the education..........

Just because some dude hunts doesn't make him a raging war time lunatic.........

No but it makes him better at shooting Yankees!. Then when pushed to far the lunatic comes out the the Hulk. Keep that in mind. I remember when I was a kid seeing something may grandfateher had form the "old" days that had basically a ranking sheet for how many points you got for killing a Union soldier. The closer to the mason dixon line the less points, the further north the more. See we make a farking game of killing!

Dude, we have agriculture. New Jersey is the Garden State for God's sakes........Just had a hoagie for lunch with Jersey tomatoes in it. Dude, most of Pennsylvania is more hicky than where you live. Really. They have deer hunting holidays. Besides we eat pasta and pizza up here. We don't need no stinking vegetables, man. Need tobacco though, so you got us there. The English kind just ain't the same.

And what major shift happened just after the Civil War? The industrial revolution......the height of Northeastern power. The south would have been nothing during that time period.

Dude, EVERYBODY in our cities has guns........gernades........bombs..........gotta protect their corner. Seriously, everybody in northern cities has a gun.

Street level narcotics distribution shows ingenuity and a mind for business. And the guys on our corners are all aboot "blowing peoples' heads off." That's part of their lives. I'm not condoning it, I'm just saying.

Why am I always the spokesperson for the north? Do you other northern sissies have a voice or what?

Maybe you're right, maybe the south would win.......

The issue of states rights that did it. slavery was just the trigger.

    The biggest two reasons:
    1. Weapons--Southerns have them and know how to use them. There are tac schools all over the south plus many military types with training retire to the south so you already have a huge supply of people with excellent weaponry who know how to use them AND can train others in guerrilla warfare (IED's etc). In addition, many in the north who have these skills would probably not fight for the north so you are left with police and gangbangers. Police don't react well to being attacked since they are trained to be in the upper hand.

    2. Industry--Alot of heavy industry has moved to the south and the bulk of the agriculture is there and the mid-west (which would probably side with the south). Infrastructure is a dated argument. The north produces little in terms of natural resources and the south has big reserves of oil and nuclear power. The fracking areas in the north would most likely be shut down or side with the south (those PA hillbillies don't take too kindly to liberals). Also, roads and such are horrible the north and excellent in the southern areas.

those are my best 2. All of this assumes the military stays out of it which they might.

PS--Cities are easy. just lay seige to them and make the gangbangers fight on your ground.

Oh hey, why don't you come up and spend a night on the streets of North Philadelphia. Tell them how bad southerners are and how you miss slavery. Tell them aboot your guns, and how crazy you are cause y'all hunt.

You do this and I will bow to you for the rest of time........

I will when you agree to come down to the deep south and spout your anti southern BS. Man we got some many swaps to bury you in or gators to feed you to won't nobody every find the remains. As I have stated Southern Pride is alive and well (notice we are together hence SOUTHERN PRIDE, not NC or GA pride) You guys up north bicker between boardering staes (NY claims NJ sucks). If the North wanted a fight I have no doubt that many yanks especially the gang bangers you speak of would say no way, not my fight, Ill keep slangin dope, but let ther be a call for the good ol boys to rise up and you would see a fleet of pickups coming up I95 armed to the ****ing teath and a point sheet for yank kills to boot! Question for you southern guys, think if that happend they would put a bag limit on us like during deer season? God that would suck. I'm ready though.

I'm not advocating one side over the other just giving my analysis of why I think the south would win today under certain conditions. PJB you are 100% right about the northern industry late in the civil war. Lee recognized this as well and knew defeat was inevitable.

New York is one of the wealthiest cities on earth. They can get supplies if they lack them. That's just one example. There's plenty of money and resource availibility in the north.

The north has PLENTY of farms.

The mid-west power players are all from Liberal cities. They run the show.

Even the Jersey guys who fly confederate flags still have a soft spot for NJ. It's home......No one wants to see their homleand attacked.

Just because you can hunt and hang out in the woods doesn't make you tough. ANYONE can especially if they are forced to. It's friggin human nature.

Why does everyone assume every non-northern state loves the south ??? People from North Dakota don't fawn over Alabama. And their getting a taste of big time oil money. Their tastes might swing to the Yankee-finer-things-in-life

Most southerners can't read so I don't know what they are learning at tactical schools. Yeah, what are you talking aboot the same clowns who made bunkers for DECEMBER 21, 2012 ??? Ha, yeah better watch out for those guys!!

Roads ? They have dirt roads down there.

Aww man, here we went again. PUMP, I'm sending a few people down there to investigate your Jersey loyality......

And SUP, don't get angry, this isn't serious, at least I'm not being serious. I mean, what I'm saying is the truth but I'm doing it in a jovial way........

And that's it. Someone else stand up for the north for once........Jeez.........

This thread is out of hand. You guys really want to start your own country? Go ahead and see what happens. Abandon all treaties, trade agreements, military protection, rule of law, court system, legislative system, etc. Might as well just go all in and join the United States of Mexico. Have fun living in a lawless country! It might have worked when we had a few million people spread across millions of acres but good luck finding enough land to raise your own crops and firewood to warm your home when several million people have to do the same thing!

Grow up, you're not going to solve all of your problems by seceding (yes, that is how you spell it) from the Union. There's just as many redneck Republicans driving trucks and shooting guns north of the Mason Dixon line as there is south of it.

The class divide these days isn't about North vs. South, or black vs. white, it's rich vs. poor (i.e. - educated vs. uneducated). So stop harping on an issue that's 150 years old.

D@mn it's been a tough day at work...

Oh hey - just thought of this - as opposed to getting together in Deal, NJ for a forum reunion where we surf, drink, laugh, and hang on the beach, maybe we should get together for the first annual Swell Info Forum Civil War Reenactment where we can further the arguments of our great, great, great grandparents. I mean, cotton labor is still such a hot topic.

I call I get to be General Sherman.

Already have, dude. I lived in the Outer Banks, from 2002-2004. I spoke my mind everywhere I went. NEVER HAVE BEEN A BIT FRIGHTENED of ANYBODY DOWN THERE. NEVER. And I'm only 4'10'' 105 pounds. Wancheese dudes ain't nothing.

I'm not internet bragging. There's no one down there that scares me the way people do up here.

I used to bust on the South to my probation officer in Currituck County......yeah Currituck County not transplant Dare County. The real south.

I don't know where you southerners get this idea from. NOBODY IN THIS COUNTRY IS AFRAID OF YOU GUYS. NOBODY. You guys have created this paradigm and it is COMPLETELY exclusive to y'all. You guys romanticize yourself like some Wild West cowboys.

But you wouldn't get out of your car in North Philly. I know that for a fact.

With the way things are going right now I think we're going to have to worry more about a East vs. West or what might turn into WW III more than another Civil War here at home. We might need to all band together one day. If we pull the trigger on Syria you can bet your ass things are going to escalate quickly. You guys ready to pick up arms and put your desk jobs and 401k's on the back burner? I doubt it...

If the war comes to our doorstep, how many domesticated men / women are going to be willing to join the fight? This is the question we should all be asking, and if you look around, people are too wrapped in updating the Facebook page with what they ate for lunch and Twittering each other with their smart phones to care. I guess we'll find out soon enough won't we...

Even if we did leave what makes you think we would not establish treaties with nations, trade agreements and everything else you mentioned. God you seem to forget that America broke away from England and everyone cited similar reason for not doing it. Would you have rather we stayed under English rule? I agree with PJB in that no one is really serious about breaking away and this is all just internet debate, but if you really think there are more republican rednecks with guns up north then you are crazy.

Actually as funny as it seems (maybe I'm just angry after quiting toking two weeks ago) but over the last week I really have considered joining the Army ahead of an invasion plan. I actually feel like I want to know what it's like to shoot a human (enemy combatant not an innocent person). Odd?! Insane? Maybe.
