Johnny U and the Don in Baltimore was my team before the Dolphins were born. Shula brought his magic to Miami, and I was a grateful young fan. It has gone south ever since. I have never had Stone Crab Cake, probably because Stone Crab should be eaten chilled and dipped in mustard sauce. It is sweeter than poontang. The cotton candy has given way to grapefruit, as the seasons are changing here in sunny FLA. The only thing lacking is the movement of water against the shore. It is so lake like, I think this weekend I will get all my home improvement chores done, so hopefully if we get a bump, I am free, free at last.

Man, this is gonna be a hell of a season. The 10 games on right now are mostly all very competitive. Tough having both my teams play in the same time slot but that's what PIP, NFL Ticket and das web is for.

Watching Giants last night after watching the Irish on Saturday made me think about the Mets this past (and well, current season) and then thinking about how I've been surviving on knee to thigh for 38 days in a row which made me think: Man. When it rains, it motherf*&king pours. PS - my beer league softball team went out on the opening day of the playoffs. *sigh*

yeah, the Giants game was harsh. ball bouncing the wrong way for the Giants the whole game it seemed. too bad cause Eli had a hot hand in the 4th. regardless, once the sloppiness gets ironed out, the Giants look good this year.

can't wait for skins vs eagles tonight. hoping Vick goes down and we see Matt Barkley get a shot at some point. that'll light up the sports radio in Philly. haha. Philly dudes prob can't stand a USC boy being on the roster. Tebow is up for grabs!

Nahh college football is pretty meaningless in Philly. There's no team to root for so we don't hate USC or anybody else. There's some Penn State fans but, man, Penn State has nothing to do with SE PA or South Jersey. It's like the default team.....

There's room on the Seminoles bandwagon PJB, if you want to root for a winner, now's your chance! Seats are filling up fast though, lots of fair weather fans coming out of the woodwork to represent the garnet and gold again. I on the other hand was there through even the worst of times, losing to Wake Forest, NC State, Clemson, etc., those were rough seasons to endure.

yeah, tonight Philly is going to show the rest of the league who's boss, mi amigo...Vick going down, not a chance...we already saw Barkley in the preseason, not too impressive...he needs to spend a lot of time on the bench before he gets his shot.

    I can see it now...2nd quarter...RGIII hobbles off the field....Eagles-35, Redskins-24

Don't give up on Temple! Maybe Cosby's nephew is an Owl fan. I kinda hope both Vick and RG3 have big games - it will make the season much mo better if those two guys stay healthy. Although that probability is around the same as that of an East Coast hurricane swell filling in by tonight's game. My money is on Vick lasting longer than RG3 - 6 games is the over under on one of them out.

Our backup running back, Bernard Pierce, went to Temple. He's a total animal and I believe he will be starting, ahead of Rice, in a year or so. While at Temple, Bernard Pierce had 5 rushing touchdowns against my Terps. Moral of the post is "don't give up on Temple!" They have studs too!

By the way, sisurfdog, good looks on Johnny U and the Baltimore Colts. I never saw Johnny U play, but I remember him being on the Raven sideline up until he passed away; he was an honorary member of our quarterback coaching staff. My dad always pointed him out at games, along with a flashback story that usually involved Lenny Moore and Raymond Berry. Good times and good memories. RIP Johnny.

Johnny U, or Mr. Quarterback as he was called, could throw into triple coverage and hit the receiver on the money and on the run. He was cool as a cucumber. If it was an incompletion, a first down, an interception, or a TD, he would always look and act the same. Like Slater getting pitted at Pipe. Eye of the Tiger. He was a blue collar hero, son of a steelworker, and actually was a regular at first peak Malibu ( along with Dora) after he retired from the San Diego Chargers - not! That was the kush talking. Go Owls! Hoot Hoot!

Does God favor one team over the other? How bout Touchdown Jesus? I know the Dolphins are cursed. How bout the invocation: " In the name of Jesus, and the Lord, may we kick the s**t out of the other team of infidel non fried food eating heathens." Makes me want to see the opposing Q-back get his head ripped off his neck, especially if it is Tom Brady...oh yes I did!

Right? You don't even let the D substitute which both exhausts them and prevents them from getting the appropriate personnel and packages in place on the field for the down and distance. A no-huddle high school team in Texas recently had a coach that was quoted saying the goal of their offense is 90+ snaps a game...in a 48 minute HS affair. They've won 4A most years lately as a result.

    Ahh the Eagles.....

Everybody 'round here is stoked. I'm not. Dudes, the Skins gave them the ball all first quarter and the Birds only put 12points on the boards. Here Eagles, have the ball. RG 1 2 3 shouldn't have even been out on the field. It was pathetic. That dude was not ready. He will lose his legs this season. If RG 1 2 3 faced a good defense last night he would have been deaded.

Then the Birds actually do get a chunky lead, and in typical Eagle's fashion, they quit and let the Redskins get back into the game. And of course whenever the Eagles have a huge lead, the refs call every penalty on them and ignore blatant holds committed by the other team. Everybody hates the Eagles.

Their offensive line is still inconsistent. Dog Killer still makes bad decisions. Jackson still can't control his temper. McCoy is bad arse though.

That about sums it up right there. I kept saying the way he's not stepping into his throws and being real ginger on that front leg tells me he aint ready, he might be ok, but he wasn't ready last night. He better hope nobody puts their weight on that knee or it's over.

once the kinks get worked out the Eagles are gonna be scary good. ole' Chip is an offense genius. if Vick stays healthy (unlikely) and D. Jackson simmers down (more unlikely...he is an eastside LBC dude) nobody is gonna have an answer for that offense. the O line looked good for once.

Dog Killa still throws some bullets. when he's on, which is rare, he has the best arm in the NFL. oh no i didn't!! the Eagles big problem is they have weak linbackers and a questionable secondary.

You forgot to mention Chippah! He will more likely than not be one step ahead of most other coaches in the league. Just wait for next year and years to come when every wide receiver, running back and TE wants to join the birds and Chippah!
