Well, didn't read the article, actually had to do some work today...but first thought when I saw the thread title was that dudes have been doing backflips on sponges for years now...but I'm sure grindtv could care less about that...which is just how I like it
I figured as much, but wasn't sure if that's what you meant, it's a different sport so pulling off a back flip is completely different in my opinion, not better or worse, just different.
When I was in PR, I saw some very talented spongers and they were boosting some serious air, never saw anybody that good on a sponge in person before, respect.
saying jordy invented the backflip is like Adriano invented the barrel.nothing new, just more and more people are landing them.they were bustin backflips in the late 80s,guys like archy n Christian fletcher, they just couldn't land it.difference is todays boards are lighter than a paperclip.back then they did airs on 6lb boards.jordy does have the best carve out of his class
spongers land everything.theres nothing that could go wrong lol.i was thinking about buying a boogyboard and some fins since my break is a closeout everytime it breaks.i see plenty of spongers charging,i don't hate..surfings just better to watch!!
I love it all man. Christian Fletcher and Archy were way ahead of their time, I used to think Fletcher was such a bada$$ growing up, still do, but you know what I mean.
Steven Seagal taught him that move, just like he taught Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida the front kick, everybody knows this!
