has it been done yet? look over at Europe and naz and ireland. there has to be a east coast mavericks 20-100 miles off the coast. somewhere... i know a guy who was one of the first surfers in the area here and back in the 70s had a freak swell with 25 foot waves breaking about a mile out of south car.

Some sizable waves have been ridden...not saying it has anything on Mav's, but sizable. Will post a pic later.

Pump House off FL went off at like 15+ during last years cane swells I think it was. During Earl Holden Beach NC was like 10-12. I think what you mean is Cortez type waves that far off shore and a big as Naz. There is an article in a past Surfer about the Hobgoods taking a boat way out of FL for something similar so yes it has been checked. Just look at charts and see if you find any large sea mounts then grab a big boat and go!

I was at Holden for Sandy and it was the most surreal thing I've ever seen. 6-8' left barrels for over 500 yards at least. That day I was glad to be goofy.

Yeah Holden gets good on the cane swells. This was Earl 2 years ago I think it was.

Damn. Where is that? Elbow? Dude got all the way down before it started to break. Sick ride. Looks like that wave goes lower than where the water on the horizon stops, so maybe he's still in a drawn out carve at that point.

That was in South Florida and yes they were doing tow-ins but also paddling. Evans dad
(Orion Surfboards) actually got the wave of the day and was in the newspaper and ESM for his super sick florida barrel.

The best swell ever recorded in Florida was Halloween 1991!!! Remember the "Perfect Storm"? That was the swell from it. Down here in Florida it was 18' - 20'+ and that's being modest. I was a sophomore in high school and we skipped that day cause we heard the waves were going to be really good. Boy was that an understatement! Up until that point those were the biggest waves I had ever seen and I was scared outta my mind! The waves were breaking so far out it took forever to paddle out. Not only was it huge that day but it was absolute perfect conditions.

Not sure if you're talking about the pic I posted, but I know with certainty that that was somewhere in New England(not saying exactly where), and way more recent than '91.

Sorry man, I was referring to the video of Evan. Definitely not from 91' cause he wasn't even born yet! :)

info like this should be disclosed as long as poss. keep the amateur nutjob cowboys that aren't local away @seldomseen eventually everywhere might be as crowded as socal by the time im 90 so stopping the population progression of surfers as much as poss is a must

With you 100% dude...just figured if I could find that pic on the internet anyone could. I never name spots or post pics that have definitive landmarks anywhere on the internet.
