if there is nothing dangerous about gmos then why are they so against labeling products with them?

Fear. Humans are stupid creatures. We fear that which we do not understand. Labeling products sends a message that the product contains something that you should be worried about. Labeling could hurt product sales. Anyone who knows anything about business and marketing should know exactly why companies would fight labeling. There are hundreds of substances in the foods we eat everyday that may or not be harmful to us. These substances are not called out in any special way. I go with the innocent until proven guilty concept. Fight for more studies and testing on GMO. If it is found that it can be linked to some harmful effect in humans, then force labeling.

GMO is just a new name for an old practice. The first neanderthal that ate a plant and realized he could feed his neanderthal family with it started this mess. Humans have been selecting and cultivating specific strains of plants throughout history. So many everyday foods were inedible a few hundred years ago. I think strawberries are one of the most recent to lose their toxicity. How'd that happen? Modifications to the species, that's how.

The modifications happened much more slowly and so they were not feared. Each GMO seed can be slightly different and people don't really understand the implications of each modification. That's why people are wary.

Bottom line is don't fear modified foods. Everything is modified.

while i try to avoid gmos, you need to keep in mind that your body has the benefit of 3.6 billion years of collective evolution to combat our modern science experiments. Just keep moving, and don't stress and keep in mind life will find a way.

    the GMO's should be labeled
    consumers should have choice
when you see GMO's at less than half the price of organic non GMO's you can make your choice
as t increases, the gap between non GMO and GMO foods will increase, with GMO's likely being less expensive as the yields are higher
the verdict is still out, do these foods poison us?
We dont know as monsanto and pioneer and variety of other companies shut down (in a variety of ways) studies that look at this

Its interesting to see the "Id rather not be informed attitude" here, you shouldn't live in a republic as you are worthless to the rest of the population, your attitude would be (is) great for a totalitarian gvt to manipulate.

don't get scared but you have to admit its pretty rude to bring this stuff up on a surfing forum.
