    If Kelly Slater took up an anti-bubblegum stance these guys would tell you to stop your chewing too.

    rude? I think you get offended too easily, kinda like pre-pubesnt girl. Now THAT had a touch of rudenness
    This thread was started by someone else, do yourself a favor and ignore it
    and when you track me down what are we going to do? have beers? arm wrestle?

    Perhaps if this was in the non surf thread-topic area your delicate sensitivities wouldn't have been damaged?

    I hear ya brewengineer, I guess I am done with this, unfortunately, as usual, reason does not prevail at SI forums :(

    This topic is never about reason, or science, or even GMO. We have been down this road many times. That is why members like pumpmaster are angry about it. It is one big mix of opinions and unrelated topics, with a hint of conspiracy to complete the dish. Show me a petition to force more studies and testing on GMO (not pesticides, as those belong in another discussion) and I will sign it. A petition to label something that most people know very little about is not something everyone wants to get behind. And most importantly, petitions and politics are not something most surfers like to discuss on a surfing website.

    One reason I do like seeing this kind of discussion on a surf website is that surfers are a unique slice of Americana with a variety of opinions. (and everyone knows opinions are like butt-holes everyone got one and most stink) if keeping discussions like this in the non surf area stops people from getting sand in their vag, then that is understandable, however to say this isnt worth discussing with the tribe is not correct either.
    GMO's are a HUGE deal here on Oahu....
    thanks for the explanation as opposed to others' approaches

    why shouldn't these discussions be on a surfing website?
    you can always chose not to read it. Do you read every article in a newspaper? no. but something that you're not interested in may interest sombody else. when i look at the discussions i chose not to read anything under global body boarding. why? because it doesn't interest me. doesn't mean it shouldn't be there.

    angry old guy is more like it. the reason i hate it is partially for the reasons BE said but also it just kills a forum. once the floodgates open we will get all kinds of stuff like this. That has nothing to do with GMO but to keep this place semi-fun and informative for surfers.

    what would make it EVEN MORE FUN, Pumpey, is if you had more selection in what threads you read and posted in. You are somewhat clever and sometimes funny, but you cant possibly control free speech. You will feel much better if you just let it go and let people discuss what they will without your proctoring it.

    Can we just add a Tin Foil Hat category to the SI forum, that way all those wearing their hats can conspire together in harmony? Archy can be the ring leader, the rest will have to pull straws to see who's next in command. All in favor?

    BTC=a volatile, experimental, de-centralized, digital crypto-currency
    but that's a whole 'nother thread so I will stop there
