It looks like an Easterly swell has arrived - I hope it's getting in to the beaches by now. I have to make Spinach-shetake calzones this morning so I will miss the high-tide session at 9:19AM (high-tide).

Tide is pretty neap today - 8.9 ft. high, like 1 foot low. That means well, it just means less reflections off of the seawalls.

Time to surf. There isn't much in the forecast so get it now while it's here and the winds are reasonable cooperative.

Don't quit your job and don't look for a government (G-job) unless you are a consultant like myself!

    :D

PS Notice how I spell shetake (the censorship script nabbed my original spelling)

Well, nothing like this for a pre-surf (and after-surf) meal!

Hahaha, good way around it. Dude those are my favorite in terms of edibles by far. I have some morels dried and ready to go I just have no idea how to prepare them. Glad you got some Lewaves, nice calzone.

Last night was smaller but clean as hell and mad stokey. This morning was a complete waste of time with pure closeouts. Let's hope this good swell is not lost on excessively high tide and winds. Damn man.

You should be just fine brah. If you're out at the break by 5 you're stoked bc it's bigger swell than originally forecasted and the winds are calming as the tide goes out. Spicoli wants all the Emass brahs to score today.

Sorry to interupty a New England pow wow......

But no one from my area is interested in waves today....all politics......which is cool. I like a debate....

But today was friggin awesome in Jersey's southland......I'm never happy, and I was happy today.

Thick 3-5' barrels......Winds were supposed to be sketchy but they stayed well-behaved. Clean as hells. Man, it was pitching, the impact zone was a caustic mess of moving water, turbulence and upturned sand. It was for real. That gets me happy in pants.

I could go for a nice surf-to-dark session up there in New Hammy, but I'm in New Jersey........not New Hammy.

So you guys do it for me.........Get out there.......

Hope errbuddy who eats beans scored today. I'm irate in reporting huge disappointments from 3 breaks. The excessive tide was one obstacle. Didn't even let low tide act like low tide. It was mid-tide an hour later. Then the morning's heavier than predicted winds made great swell close out constantly. The morning was a wash. Pun intended. Then the afternoon was full of onshores or sideshore winds. Saw about 10-15 minutes of good sets all day. The rest was toilet.

Honestly, if not for clean, clean smaller but stokey swell last night, I'd be up schitt's creek right now. C'mon man, even Surfline had us in the green. The "glass is bone dry" guys even were stoked for our expected scoring.

Glass half full bullet points are last night's sesh and how I've never surfed that good in my whole overgrown gromhood. Then there was a closeout this morning that jacked up to HH to slightly OH off the point (yes, it's true...just one biggin) and I got the early takeoff on the steep and had the drop, had the drop, had the drop all the way to where I was starting my bottom turn then got closed out on hard but it was fun since I was handling that steep til momma said she ain't got time fo dat. Finally, this afternoon there was a momentary armistice between the crapola and I caught a HH drop that was wicked fast and fun and rode it down the line but only mush was to be had. Still fun.

Cool story, huh? No. It's not. The story sucks because the waves sucked today. But they should be good again in the morning as it's dying out and leaving us before noon. Damn you breaks that can't handle any size whatsoever.

85 and sunny tomorrow so if we can sneak a couple rides at DP then bask a bit in October sun we are probably stoked. Let's hear score reports from you Massholes that hopefully were at more fortuitous breaks than I.

Sage, purdy sure you don't need no apologizin, being that you got some weird non-resident status during your time in the armpit of Mass (one of them at least) that somehow has reciprocity with your armpit home state. Kind of like you got dualie between Jerz and Mass. You're all good sage brah. Just do away with your affinity for livin free or dyin because Cow Hampshire is a sovereign nation, not a U.S. state.

Surfed a bunch of spots today, all were clean, heavy, and fun. The wall was going off as the tide dropped from high but thats not where all the fun was (cant wait to see Ed or Ralphs pics). Glad to feel some pulse and get pummelled once again.

Ya man, one consolation was that there was finally enough juice to thrash us today. Good to be in again.

Hampton sounds like it was sick. It looked cleaner for winds there and it was clearly worth the drive.

Just halve the morels lengthwise, rinse any obvious dirt off (most morel dirt is probably just good flavor), put morels in zip-loc with very light dusting of flour (less than a teaspoon for 30 morels), shake, and fry in whatever oil or butter or mixture of the two. If they are dried, you can soak them for 5 minutes in water to rehydrate.

The shetakes need to be soaked for a half hour in water since a small number of the shetakes are real tough - most of the shetakes only take about 5 or 10 minutes to rehydrate.

I should have told everyone to quit their jobs - the swell was fabulous in Hull! I spent about 4 hours in two sessions with two different shortboards. The neap tide caused an extended period of mid-tide behavior so almost all day (other than extreme low-tide for about an hour) was perfect. Definitely a few head-high sets or better. The wait for a ride was only like seconds to a minute or so. Constant pumping swell - now my right heel is sore (I don't think it's a disease, perhaps a bruise).

For the records, my calzone recipe is straight from the British chef Jamie Oliver on tv - I just subbed the shetakes for the regular mushrooms. I have two more giant ones still to eat.

Nice sharing the stoke with everyone out there - I also got to film one of my wild squirrel-buddies and met a real nice South African Bull Mastiff named May. What a difference a day makes in a man's life! Just takes a little tropical swell.
