"Democracy" no matter the good press it gets... is Authoritarian.... Anarchy is the opposite of that. It is the acknowledgement that property rights are the most crucial element in human interactions. ESP the right to own your own labor and body!! In a Democracy you can have people voting to limit other peoples right to their "personal" property--which is what we had during our "experiment" with owning people. Thinking of "Democracy" ,as we know it, as being good,
is a product of a very good public relations campaign.

so basically the community is a group of people who make sure they are taken care of (by themselves) and can remove the lazy?

well the idea of "community" as we know it would be entirely different... and the idea of "the lazy" would too... I can understand how a fella might not be motivated to participate in today's economy made up of fry-cooks and cubicle farms...remember we live in a world where soooo many things are OUTLAWED ...you get rid of all the VICTIMLESS crimes on the books and other laws and regs that discourage people from participating in the work force and you don't have "the lazy " anymore...or not as much. people can still be lazy but they'll have to look more to charity for handouts.... I'm glad to see these topics being discussed! rock on!

"Remove" sounds like it would necessarily require the use of "FORCE"..which Anarchists are against...so no force could be used but ostracism and other benign "hints" would make people hurry to find like-minded people to "associate with"...

pumpmaster, why should the productive have to pay for the lazy? nonproductive orphans and widows will be taken care of. If I didnt pay taxes, Id be more likely to VOLUNTEER my time and efforts to help those in need.

But why bother now? I mean my taxes pay to help the for the poor (sarc off)

and yes you cant remove them, but you can charge them triple for the gallon of milk they want if you are a dairy farmer...or dont even sell to them....see how they change their tune so they can be part of the community

http://mises.org/document/1010/For-a-New-Liberty-The-Libertarian-Manifesto Rothbard is the James Brown of Anarchic / Libertarian thought and his manifesto is the most basic , boiled-down thought on the subj imo...... but he's not the only one I'd check out if you're at all interested in this, at times (in light of our current situation) very depressing stuff!.... Lysander Spooner, was, get this, not only an ABOLITIONIST and such a strong principled ANARCHIST that after the Civil War, he TRIED TO HELP FORMER SOUTHERN MILITARY MEN ESCAPE their charges of treason! http://lysanderspooner.org/node/44 that my friends is Ballsy...

I was coming from the angle that democracy, as we know it, isn't a democracy...our govt. is a republic, going by the definitions of the words. True democracy, rule of the people, would be anarchy.

bbg is dropping the heavy stuff, keep it up, everyone needs to see this

if there is ever a tribe in America ready for self governance its the tribe that has tacit lineup rules already established. Your rep counts more than your wallet in DOH surf

seldom seen, no that would be mob rule, in anarchy (greek for without rulers) there are no bosses

you are interpreting it as without rules which is incorrect

or to be thought of another way...

Anarchy is "democratic" all the way up to the point some "voter" wants to "vote" for acquiring something by force or coercion... thereby setting up some form of State.

    after that its Statism.
