I liken religion to cigarettes...its used as a crutch and shows weakness. So thats a big NO.

This is soo ironic, last night i was just thinking to myself, "you know, its been really nice not seeing that 'free surfboards' thread, so glad thats over with." Yikes, i couldnt have been more wrong.

Free speech is great until we decide that others aren't allowed to speak freely simply because we don't like what they're saying.

This reminds me of the famous Martin-Niemöller quote about the lack of action among German intellectuals against the NAZIs:

If there were really no place for a topic/thread on a forum, it would likely be one that repetitively gets posted yet remains unanswered and becomes an incessant back fill of self-bumps. Considering Wayne's threads are in ESPN's Top 10 of the day/week every time he throws them up, the populace of SI is already tilting the scales of an unofficial poll far towards the threads belonging. This isn't even a personal opinion, it's a simple observation of the board's behavior and tendencies, and actions speak louder than words.

Also, it would be very time-consuming to list all the other political topics that frequent the forum. Wayne's aren't the only ones and not by a long shot.

I don't think forums have ever been aligned with the Bill of Rights. Free speech is not what we have. That is why I can't say ****, ****, ****, and ****.

 

I don't believe in the story of jesus in all accuracy at this point in my life (not that i don't want to), but if you've caught a wave and had those awesome sessions that are like no other, you have to believe it's a gift from god, lets go spirtuality/religion/surf talk
