brew that's like a German suggesting a holocaust and then citing Hitler. Just because it has been done doesn't make it right, or the answer to the welfare situation. Stop talking me into how crazy you are, I'm already convinced. I don't even like IPA. There.

Wars fought to "defend" a nation of fat and uneducated hillbillies from an "ism" that they don't understand and couldn't properly define if they had a tele-prompter in front of them, is just business as usual. Replace Terrorism with Communism and you have the Cold War and our foreign policy "threat" since the 1950s. War is just State-Sanctioned murder. Nothing necessary about that at all. My stepmom is from Russia. Had Bush or Obama been in office in the 1980s and allowed to run amok like they have been, and the population been as eager to go to war for ideology as some are now, she might not be alive today.

I think the rural family farm model and the urban/suburban married professional model are quite different cases. In the urban case with expectations of expensive clothing, college tuitions etc, more kids = economic strain. In the rural case, it can work out quite differently, an more kids can be advantageous, even necessary.

The professional couple probably doesn't have acres of crops and livestock to tend to. There are advantages in some cases to have lots of helping hands at certain times of the year..i.e. planning, harvesting.

I can dig that answer. Although I'm not sure that unfettered, unrestricted reproduction is a "right" in all places or circumstances - does my right to reproduce trump your right to eat, in the event the two rights conflict with one another? I never said all wars are bad because that's pretty obviously not the case.

buck vs bell was in 1927
women were just granted the right to vote like 7 yeas prior via the 19th amendment, id like to think we have advanced since then.....

    on a comedic side note....

Have you ever seen the man show where they get women to sign petitions to end women's suffrage?
They actually convince women to sign a petition to give up their rights to vote. They say 'women are suffraging all over the place, end the suffraging!"

I couldn't make this up, a youtube search will yield dozens of examples of people convincing women to give up their right to vote.

I bet if we promised them a 10$ gift card to Ross, they would sterilize themselves.

    seems like a good start....

did I go too far? Im trying to make lite of this eugenics thread

Spot on. No one ever lost money betting on the ignorance of the general American populace. Steve Allen's 'Man in the Street' interviews, Leno did the same thing & it just gives glaring evidence that this is a nation of yahoos.

What else could possibly explain the elected officials, the mas public support for NSA examining your private correspondence, the support for wars that make absolutely no friggin sense on any level other than the abrogation of our domestic civil rights & more death to brown-skinned peoples.

I've been wondering about this myself for about 10 years now. Its really the mystery of our times, if you ask me.

Is ignorance responsible for the acceptance of this state of affairs? Responsible for the promotion of it? Or both?

    Here part of it
That is one thing you might've noticed I don't complain about: Politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. But where do the people think these politicians come from? They don't fall out of the sky. They don't pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from american parents and american families, american homes, american schools, american churches, american businesses and american universities. and they're elected by american citizens. This is the best we can do, folks. This is what we have to offer. It's what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out! If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, if you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you are gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders. The term limits ain't goinna do any good; you're just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So maybe, maybe, maybe it's not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here. Like... the public. Yeah. The public sucks! There's a nice campaign slogan for somebody. "The public sucks, f*ck hope!". F*ck hope. Because if it's really just the fault of these politicians then where are all the other bright people of conscience?

: On election day... I stay home. I don't vote. F*ck'em, f*ck'em! I don't vote. Two reasons, two reasons I don't vote: First of all, is meaningless. This country was bought and sold and paid for a long time ago. The Shot they shuffle around every 4 years, *pfff* doesn't mean a f*cking thing. And secondly I don't vote because I believe if you vote, you have no right to complain.

People like to twist that around, I know. They say: "Well, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain"; but where's the logic in that? If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent people and they get into office and screw everything up... well, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem; you voted them in; you have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote, who did not vote, who in fact did not even leave the house on election day, am in no way responsible for what these people have done and have every right to complain as long as I want about the mess you created that I had nothing to do with.

Well then, I guess you just have all the answers. Business as usual everyone. No reason to change anything. The world is working so well with these population increases.
I gave an option, but some people live in there own little perfect bubble. Any talk outside their own define moral safe ground is just crazy.

Men can be sterilized as well, ya know. If we had advanced, we would sterilize for controlled eugenics. If someone has a horrible hereditary disease that is guaranteed to be passed down to the next generation, and that person doesn't have the capacity to make their own rational decisions, why would we allow that person to create another human that will suffer from the same horrible disease? In nature, these people would have died off long before they could reproduce. However, with modern science and cultural advancements, humans are no longer controlled by the laws of nature. So, what are we to do? Too many people in here are limiting their minds to moral realms, brought about by years of christian brainwashing.

Wayne, shut it. I normally leave you to your spamming, but it is your organized religion that has brought about most of the problems we deal with in this modern world. The fact is, most of the people in this country, and on this forum, are living 10000x better than people of the last 15000 years. Everything is right there for us, any time we need it. Pain doesn't have to be tolerated. Sadness can be medicated. We don't even have to hunt for meat. If this is the end of days, I guess the bible was wrong about all the suffering.
BTW, my point about sterilization was not because I think things are so bad right now. It is because we are headed down a destructive path for our planet. I am sure that even if we added another couple billion people, most middle to upper class Americans wouldn't feel a thing. However, the poor and starving all over the world will grow in number. Is it not more cruel to allow a small conscious child starve to death in the street, just because some octomom wannabe freak thinks they deserve to have a dozen children. It's a global fight for resources, and these resources are finite (getting back to the original topic in this thread). Some will win and some will lose. I would rather have it so there are enough resources for everyone, instead of increasing the number of losers.

You're even crazier than the guy who wants to sterilize everyone.

    your REAL options are:

    1. Go vote. Vote out all democrats and republicans. Let the libertarians rise for a term. Then you will see the fall of the two party system and new parties will form. Things will be cool for 100 years or so and then the new parties will stale mate. For this to work we have to convince everyone in our generation to do the same thing, which shouldn't be too hard these days...

    2. Move (if you are lucky enough to be granted citizenship) to another country, like Canada or Iceland. I hear Iceland is nice. They are doing great things with their government. Might surprise you but most successful countries as of late have welfare rates even higher than ours, they are just not he world police and they know how to balance a budget. They don't outsource EVERYTHING so their people have jobs. This free enterprise and "right to work" bull**** doesn't exist so workers actually get higher pay and more time off. Sounds nice, doesn't it. Shoot, when I went on an 8 day honeymoon I got put on "probation" at work for taking so much time off. See you boys in Iceland.
