Only have a few quick points to make...@sonsfollowersurf : sounds like you're doing some good down there in FL..I applaud you for trying to help people in ANY WAY. keep it up. Who cares what the peanut gallery thinks, right? To his detractors, it may not be obvious but We all live in a world where BELIEF TRUMPS TRUTH (and this saddens me to no end). Some people like the OP believe in a higher power that would rather us cover ourselves and not swear so much in the lineup. ok what harm is there in that? maybe that would make the world a better place..but I doubt it.
In another instance others on this forum believe, almost to the point of a religious fervor, that the Democrats and big government are the ONLY way that we can "Save this country" and bla bla bla.. reverse the roles and parties for those who believe that the Republicans have all the answers...
still others believe that 911 was an inside job, while others believe that the War on Terror and bombing every country in the middle east is the best thing our country could be doing with our tax money. I mean there are ALOT of things to Believe in..but its not truth. People should be judged not on their beliefs but on their actions...

And truth can only be obtained through reason. That's why I don't "believe". Anything.

Reason is the only higher power.

Right but if you want people to take you seriously it may be worth doing otherwise all you did is just copy and pasted a huge wall of text. Good luck in your online argument!

Pretty simple, at face value, this is a cool thing.
"From 8 to 10 a.m. every Saturday, the surf camp begins with a short devotional, a land lesson on proper surf form and continues with lessons in the water."
So much assumption by the people hating. Said it before, has anyone commenting actually seen and heard this "short devotional"? I'm not in love with it, but not having seen it I'm not gonna hate on it or call Wayne terrible things either.
-The girls in rash guards is odd, but it's his show.
-Encourages the parents to attend, so if they don't want their kid there they can pull them out.

    NATIVE AMERICAN history:
Great read; Empire of The Summer Moon
The rise and fall of the Commanches. Excellent historical account. Difficult read at times, some pretty savage stuff included in accounts.

Argument? I think he was just posting information, and it is worth reading. I didn't see you giving Wayne a hard time for copy pasting everything out of the bible.

    Skeptical does not equal Nihilist.

Was saying you are asked to take most things on belief in today's world.

You are asked to believe the media.

You are asked to believe Politicians, and Preachers, advertisers, and the like...

You are asked to believe/accept moral relativism.

You are asked to believe that posting memes are adequate arguments.

    MIS, akaPM,

    1. You cannot pick and choose texts from the Bible and ignore the complete historical, social, literary and grammatical contexts, as well of the overall narrative flow. This has been done, with many horrible results, such as cults with tragic ends (ref. Jim Jones, David Koresh, etc). I don't know why you would resort to the same. This holds true for any document. For example, our founding fathers did not say we are entitled to "life, liberty & happiness" as some might interpret. See the difference and folly of leaving out "the pursuit of"? (although some believe that the govt should provide such). You get the idea. So it would be wise to understand the context before pulling out verses that you may not understand or how they are framed and asserting your own meaning. This is dangerous for the Christian and unbeliever alike.
    2. What the Bible reports it does not necessarily endorse. The old testament is "R" rated. Heinous things are going down. Judges is brutal. This is more about the evil that men do and the result of selfish & "bad" decisions and actions.
    3. That treatise about Satan w/ scripture quotes has errors. I needn't shoot down every point, but for one, Satan has requested worship and even asked Christ to worship him. No doubt Satan looks appealing, he's joined this costume party in a devious way, as it is even written that he "masquerades himself as an angel of light"
    4. For the believer, the bottom line is that we see God through Christ, peerless, and on his merits, and thus good. Additionally, the big game changer is Christ's resurrection, without which the believer is the biggest fool in the line up. So that is where the pinnacle question is. We can possibly tout his unique moral teachings, his counter cultural methods, etc., but at the end of the day, one either believes that He died for sin and rose from the dead or he did not.

Unfortunately there have been many poor representatives, doctrines, and institutions that obfuscate this simple point. And I appreciate the opinions and validity of those who have a problem with some of the things done under the guise of Christianity. Terrible things. And hanna's statement "i know many Christians - literally hundreds of them - and have never met one who even slightly resembled the spirit or manifested the qualities of Jesus as described in biblical literature. not even one. " needs to be taken to heart by anyone who claims to be a believer. But there are also good things that have been done, and I believe the genuine and sincere exists. However, for this pilgrim, the foundation is the reality of the risen Christ. I'm not expecting everyone to buy that, however, that is the focus in the midst of the noise. Hopefully with a focus on Christ the virtues and qualities of Jesus will manifest.

Now, hopefully well get some off shores with this swell event heading our way.

    Peace & good day, gentlemen.

cape dog, exactly, you cant pick and choose text, and when there is a psalm about not trusting your own intelligence, trust in the lord instead...... why trust in the jealous murderous sonb!tch in those books? The whole thing is a book for social control with tidbits of wisdom.

It actually makes the world a WORSE place in that it detracts people from solving real problems and taking responsibility for their actions...who needs to change, I'm saved NIGGA! I got the hall pass to redemption for believing a myth!

its time to grow up out of the stone age and enter the world of adulthood and responsibility for your/our actions

loving everyone is your brother is the purpose of life, you dont need a poorly written book from a few thousand years ago to do this. You dont need to believe a lie/myth to do this.

I like the people who don't believe in God, yet use biblical stories, taken literally, to support their arguments. That's classic Swellinfo.com right there.

Pump, the devil does have a body count - every murder and suicide since man's existence. Like all things new, there were glitches. Sometimes you have to throw a flood down to make people learn a little respect.

Yeah thank God the devil gave us knowledge: People have used that knowledge to create a world of cell phones, Facebook and reality television. Whoo Hoo !! People are awesome !!!

To y'all who cry aboot how mean God is because there's bad things going down on earth: This place isn't supposed to be paradise you nitwits. If everything was perfect there'd be no point being here. There are reasons for everything. Jesus, even the Kung Fu guy knew life was a journey of learning experiences. Even he knew that, and he died masturbating.

You sons *****es better go back and read Summa Theologica or whatever it is. St Thomas Aquinas in the mothertrucking house. Wow, some of youse guys think you are ALL-KNOWING and ALL-POWERFUL, huh. LOL LOL LOL SMFH LOL SMH LOL SMFH YOLO LOL YOLO BRB LOL

I like to thank my moms and pappy, Puffy for giving me a shot when no one else would, all the people at Bad Boy Records, Biggie - rest in peace my brother-, ahhh I'd like to thank the academy for recognizing me, I like to thank my boys back in Jersey kicking it on the westside.........WRAP IT UP MUSIC........ok, I guess I'd better end this......Ummm I'd like to thank all my fans for the years or support, and most of all I'd like to thank God, for none of this would be possible without Him. Dueces y'all, I'm kicking rocks, Honda 2500. Peace.

Well, I think this is a mis-application bro' of the scriptures. The Bible doesn't teach one to turn off his brain. In fact, it encourages one to engage all of ones resources in application of solving problems. Sometimes we are in "over our heads", and that's where the trust in a benevolent sovereign comes into play. And, I totally get the "chips" some of us carry towards authority. I'd be happy to discuss this offline, so as to not burden the forum.
Agreed. This here is not what the good news and grace of God teaches. If it doesn't change you for the better, then I'd question whether it is good enough (or working in you) to save you. The "I bought fire insurance so I'm going to be careless and play with fire" is faulty indeed, and those that propagate that stuff have a problem. The "hall pass" mentality, as well as the Flip Wilson "the devil made me do it" is bogus.
I don't think that belief promotes childhood, irresponsibility, or anti-intellectualism. Some of the greatest minds were believers: Newton, Keppler, Faraday, Mendel, Copernicous, etc.. the list goes on into moderns times.

I hear you bro', just maintain sincerity and openness in your journey.

Perhaps. Also quote attributed to Hemingway "Critics are men who watch the battle from a high place, then come down and shoot the survivors" may be spot on as well.
