The reason you or I can't smoke our pipes in peace or do the myriad of other things that seem so logically not to be anyone else's business is because we don't live in a Free country that is based on rationality and morality. we live in the polar opposite kind of society. That being A Socialist society. In a socialist society you "have to have" drug laws because The State has to protect YOU from YOURSELF, has to protect you from possibly harming "society". Because almost everything can be considered a "a danger to the Social fabric"... you're emails have to be read to again "protect the social fabric" your piss has to be tested again..."to protect bla bla" you get it. We have to wage wars overseas again to "protect you ..." WE have to give/print/create trillions of dollars to give to banks "to protect you..." you get my sideshore drift? its a racket that must be maintained with ever bigger Boogie men .... ever greater threats to "society"
I better clarify that our trend toward Socialism has nothing to do with Obama being in office and def didn't start on his watch. Hell I voted for the guy in 2008 bc I'm a peace-nik. I knew by 2009 he was worthless, and just want everyone to know that I believe we've been Socialist for a looooooong time before that poor fella inherited the mess he inherited. thank you
I also voted for Barack in 08, I drank the hopey changey cool aid, and I saw a pic of him bodysurfing at Sandy's, thought that 'cool' Hes the droney-strikiest, child-killingest Nobel peace prize winner evah! George Carlin said it best, itsa big focking club (of powerful people) and we aint in it! I wish I could take my tax money and donate to a local food bank instead of seeing it mismanaged by greedy warmongering focktards and I dont need drug laws, I'm smart enough to know myself. I cant stop eating cookie dough, Id do terrible with Bayer Corps cure for morphine addiction or the CIA's crack
might be a good time to read the George Carlin quote in full, enjoy. "There's a reason for this, there's a reason education sucks, and it's the same reason it will never ever ever be fixed. It's never going to get any better. Don't look for it. Be happy with what you've got... because the owners of this country don’t want that. I'm talking about the real owners now... the real owners. The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting ****ed by a system that threw them overboard 30 ****in’ years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly ****tier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your ****in' retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later 'cause they own this ****in' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in the big club. ...The table is tilted, folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. ...And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue **** that’s being jammed up their assholes every day, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream, 'cause you have to be asleep to believe it."
Carlin was an entertainer. People in general are mentally lazy. Most of the kids in public schools don't want to learn how to critically think for themselves. And most of their parents are too uninterested to take real initiative to teach their children anything worthwhile. Take some personal responsibility. No one is preventing you from being smart or successful but yourself. Go take some college level science, math or engineering classes and tell me you don't need to critically think to get A's in those classes. An A represents the people who are willing to put in the effort, and those are the people that society rewards. It's just the way it is. Most of us are serfs from serf lineages. Doesn't mean you can't make something of yourself, it just means you have to work hard.
this is why we need Obamacare. "We met Tommy Davis in our hospital's clinic for indigent persons in March 2013 (the name and date have been changed to protect the patient's privacy). He and his wife had been chronically uninsured despite working full-time jobs and were now facing disastrous consequences. The week before this appointment, Mr. Davis had come to our emergency department with abdominal pain and obstipation. His examination, laboratory tests, and CT scan had cost him $10,000 (his entire life savings), and at evening's end he'd been sent home with a diagnosis of metastatic colon cancer. The year before, he'd had similar symptoms and visited a primary care physician, who had taken a cursory history, told Mr. Davis he'd need insurance to be adequately evaluated, and billed him $200 for the appointment. Since Mr. Davis was poor and ineligible for Kentucky Medicaid, however, he'd simply used enemas until he was unable to defecate. By the time of his emergency department evaluation, he had a fully obstructed colon and widespread disease and chose to forgo treatment." http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1312793
No, one emotional example is not why we need a disasterous, mismanaged bloated entitlement. So if you and PBJ signed up on day one, who were the other four dupes?
you sound just like all the other nay sayers who don't know schitt. what do you pay for insurance. most the people I ask that to, say they don't have insurance. which means that when you get sick, go to the emergency room, bail on the bill, get taken to court, lose, get charged out your ass, go bankrupt and not pay, the tax payer foots the bill for your medical and court costs.
chich, both scenarios you posted are legit, however, the answer to these is not a bloated bureaucracy trainwreck. Name one thing gvt does not f*ck up, cause rest assured, they will f*ck this up too, socialized medicine in countries that have a good system, people still wait months and years to see specialists and what about spreading the risk around, I am a happy healthy somewhat fit nonsmoker why should I be in the same risk pool as the depressed McSh!t eating fat c*nt You are letting emotion get in the way of logic, but its ok, thats what all the hubbub is about, trying to play on peoples' emotions to get them to be ok with a completely f*cked system. You are better than that, read a little bit wiht an open mind. I am all for helping people, but not at the expense of others, as this system will hurt some and make them pay more while the freeloaders drain the system of resources
You sound overly emotional, try some logical thinking for once. I pay several thousand a year in insurance, what do you pay? Sounds like you know a lot of irresponsible people who can't handle their business. The fallicy of trotting out a couple of sad-sack examples as a basis for changing a whole system is ludicrous. That's the kind of feel-good thinking that gets us "every kid gets a trophy, everyone's a winner!" and because young, male muslims blew up a building my 90 year old catholic grandmom gets a stripsearch. By the way, think how much socialized healthcare that 300+ million for a non-working website could have paid for!
Paul, you can't argue effectively with a 3rd grader. How do I know this? Even a third grader knows that West Virginia and Kentucky are different states. Chicaboomboom, I talked to my financial adviser last night and he is holding out 1000 bucks for the flight out. Just say the word.
OP - hows that working out for you? 600 million and 3 years of time and the site folds up in the first day. opening day there were 6 people able to sign up before the system failed. the premise of national healthcare, and a lot of other liberal/big gov programs/theories, are great, but completely unrealistic or sustainable for the group administering it to manage successfully. the source of funding, given the condition of private and public econimics, compounds the distaste.
hinmo, you are on point, add to that SO MANY steps and opportunities for grift and fraud and the system will collapse if it even gets off the ground here is another one: why is IRS running aspects of this program...that seems suspect off the bat
For real. The exemptions are bs. Sucks how it was pitched "this is not a tax increase/addition" and "don't worry if you already have a plan and like it, you'll be able to keep it". Supreme court rules it constitutional based on the fact its a tax, and you might not be able to keep your preexisting plan afterall.
Do you really even have to ask? As long as there are massive amounts of money in politics, there will never be a law that applies equally to everyone. Maybe in getting cynical in my middle age. EVERYTHING's got a price.
Bingo. All you really need in life is common sense. I'm trying to remember one time in my life that I ever had a good, fast, expedited, thorough experience with any place that was run by the government. I've been to the DMV and stood in line all day to renew my license. I've waited in line at the post office (which has easily sustained itself) and had my mail lost. I've waited in line at the health department (the hospital of the future) and gotten "great" care. Yeah, the government is EXACTLY who I want in charge of my healthcare. It is a proven fact. The government is the least efficient "organization" that exists. Money is wasted constantly and everything moves at a snail's pace (if it happens at all). You're probably thinking that I'm a Republican? I am not. I understand that all politicians are driven by money. If you think that any politician "cares" about you and your welfare, you are ignorant. They are driven by money and power. It is that simple. Therefore, you must always choose between the lesser of two evils. I will, and always will, vote for smaller government. The less government, the less money is wasted and the more things get done. The less government, the more freedoms you have. It is that simple. I can't quote all of the statistics that some of you can, and I don't have to. I know a train wreck when I see one.
pretty funny PumpYerMama, I was making a joke. you know what that is. kinda like your life. So your mommy is holding a thou for me. I hope it's just for the flight. I'd hate to catch crotch crickets from an old sow just for a plane ride. I sound emotional Paul, because I'M GETTING A FUGGING $1000 BUCKS EXTRA A MONTH. That's like 3 years wages for PumpsHisSisterToo.
