BRAH!!!! Can I get one of these- except is should say something like "BELMAR- best spot around- always 2ft bigger then Deal"
yes, I am. I was just judging really based on the surf reports. RI does appear to get a little east exposure, but I would'a thought (prior to being corrected) mass exposure is overall superior...although, granted, getting to martha's vinyard and cape cod looks like quite the trek.
Dude I knew you'd like that! I'll see what I can do w/ some Belmar(best spot in NJ) hoodies. And WB, your assessment was correct, RI is not the best place in NE.
Thanks guys, some of you went on a tangent, but I guess I was not specific. I was talking about a wetsuit hood. I was trying to get more info on if it's necessary to buy different hoods of different thickness or if I could get away with buying one that'll work all the time a hood was needed. I already have a 5/4 F-Bomb with hood attached for the winter, I was planning on getting something for my 3/2, 4/3 hoodless wetsuits.
That or anything similar will be good for your hoodless suits...you can get one of those caps that doesn't tuck in but something like the one in the pic is the way to go in my opinion.
I use a Quicksilver hooded vest under my 3/2, and 4/3 before I eventually go to the winter suits. I got mine at wetsuitwearhouse.com a couple of years ago and it has been fine. I also have the O'neil hood and it works ok, but not as well as the vest. I came from Monterey to Maine and now am in NJ, so thats a decent sample size of water temps I guess. I think the hooded vest or rashguard combo definitely gives your thinner wetsuits a little more usefullness into the fall and early part of winter and you can peel them back as opposed to the squid lids or caps.
It's not like there's never been a good swell to hit MA. Last spring sprung hard brah. It was raining stoke at the home break. The elder stokesmen can feel free to learn me good if I'm not correct in saying RI is better, bigger, and hollower more often than MA/NH/ME. If Rhodey never breaks again, it will still hold a high place with me when it had stoke in July at a point where the only wave you could get in MA is when you let a really nice older person turn in front of you on the road. And even that doesn't happen often here. seldom, when you say NE does that refer to Northeast or New England? If the latter, please tell your brah what he's missing. Is Lake Champlain bombing on the reg or what?
Or If you don't mind spending a little money just get a really nice chest zip xcel drylock or ripcurl f-bomb. 6/5/4 would work great for those cold days in RI. Although I have a 5/4/3 oneill mutant that I've warn for the past winter and i was fine.
Ha actually only a couple times a year and we've reviewed at length how Holyoke is the new Beverly Hills.
