Too bad its not friday. You'd think it would be crowded for the swell, but when you think harder, everyones gonna be piggin out on pie when they could be scoring! I can only get down there for friday. Basically no point. I'm gonna here all the stories and paddle out and enjoy some gnarly throaty firing 2 footers!

Try not to over-analyze it all. There are still surfers who place waves over food.

And who knows Friday is still days away.........anything could happen. Nature holds to no one's forecasts. Stranger things have happened.

Try harder to make it on Thursday, if Thursday is THE DAY. Beg and plead. Cry and moan. There's a bunch of dude's in your Rhode Island-bound crew on here. You guys should hook up, and start a carpool or something.

    Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm just tryin to get guys from RI on this thread. And btw, swellinfo forums are open to all, but again, this is a "Northeast" thread, not an "All Discussions" thread. So if anyone pays attention to those anymore, please stay on your thread. Chances are (like on every other thread) NJ is probably going to be firing with barreling 23 footers anyway.

Why would you try to blow up a day that otherwise might not be thought about. Every time you post about a swell or a swell in certain area more people are likely to see it. Adding crowds to your lineups can't you just talk about said swell before with your local buddies not put it on the web. If you must post, post after its happened.

Thank you. Yes. You're more than welcome to come here and surf, as we RI locals, and ANY surfer for that matter, often travel to other places for swell, but your constant over advertising is RIDICULOUS. Just surf. Constantly asking and updating where to go or going to go leads to the insane overcrowding scenes we've suffered the past VERY few swells we've had.
Two spots now the people who owned property there won't let people park because of the insane crowding and FULL ON LACK OF RESPECT from visiting surfers to their property. 20+ years and NO Problems...Now with text updates going out and threads like THIS...
Long story short, read the buoy, grab your friends, stay within your depth, respect the lineup, the locals, and quietly come surf.

    Thank you.

You're giving us way too much credit if you think that many people actually read these posts. I don't think the SI forum is what's crowding the breaks. Post on, friends.

I don't think the SI forum is Solely responsible or even Mostly responsible, but it certainly isn't helping. My point is None of the forums, updating and Naming spots?! (past threads) like this are. And where I am, and mostly surf, it's Point Breaks not Beach. When a peak goes from 5 guys to 15 that's kinda crowded. When it goes to 30 or 40 one ONE peak in some spots here? That's just ridiculous. Our parking lots look like the new Universal East Coast DMV, and neighborhoods go from friendly access to people calling the cops to tow and ticket us.
You guys all leave and go home and we're stuck with the reprecussions and damage control. One spot is Already basically shut down to us outside of a 1/4 walk.
Again, come surf, share Energy, but enough of this for now.
    Thank you
    RI Local

Once the beach breaks are overhead it pretty much doesn't matter how many people are out. There is plenty for everyone.

Surf the corner of Ruggles when it is double overhead on Thursday and you will have all the waves you want.

Couldn't agree more we had a weekend swell that was hyped on here with spots being named I've never seen so many people in my area of RI before in my life it felt like a Friggen summer swell.

And this was recently with air temps in the 50s usually lineups thin out around there not fill up to the point where parking is a problem

I gotta say the same...the swell on the weekend of 11/2 was ridiculous. Sooo many people in the lot/on the beach it was like the mob scene when you got a solind 'cane swell in September. I drive in from CT but have been doing so since I was a youngin' and have just as much vested in keeping sh!t as under wraps as possible...idk, I agree about not spot naming in posts, and pics, and imo pics posted shouldn't have any visible landmarks.

Not knocking you RIsurfer just stating my thoughts in regards to what others have said.

least someone on this thread has some common sense. its packed enough everywhere no need to post it up on a good swell. next time include a map of every spot while your at it. i dont like to get aggro especially on this site since everyone is pretty mellow but wtf is wrong with you in all serioussness

its bad enough having people from out of state come in at least be low key about it. hey if I lived in ct i would be doing the same thing but i would not be posting about the "epic swell" for three days naming spots, etc granted that beach is a ****ing zoo year round but no need to make it into even more of a zoo

Dudes, I promise you that if SI shut down tomorrow, your breaks would still be crowded to the same level and they'd continue to be crowded long after any & all surf related forums were gone.

Guys - more and more people pick up surfing each year. All those folks that learned to surf at a young age in the 80's now have multiple offspring who are in the lineups. On top of that you have the media effect, which paints surfing as the single coolest sport anyone can participate in. On top of that, the population is growing. One fella knows about a secret spot, he tells two friends, they tell their friends, etc. In a short amount of time you've gone from a point break with 5 guys to one with 30. Did the additional 25 guys all read the original post of this thread, come on. At best, 1 might have.

people talking about swell 3 days in advance and naming spots has zero to do with the crowds in your lineups.
