Have you ever even left the country? I just got back last month from 5 weeks of training and living in Germany. I am big in to history, and got a different perspective on the war while living over there. Sure, the Russian front was a big mistake in Hitler's plan, but it didn't end the war. Without the US and British forces hitting Germany hard, there is no guarantee the war would end at Russia. IF, and this is a very big if, the USA had no army, there is a very good chance that Hitler would have succeeded in world domination. But that is all speculation, like what you have been doing claiming the Eastern front was THE game changer. We will never know which front made the biggest difference. After all, the US and Britain leveled all the German cities that pumped out weapons and vehicles. There is a reason why it was called World War II.
The real travesty was what happened after the war. What we did to the Croatians was a damn shame, and lead to a lot of lost innocent lives. The US military does serve a purpose, and I will never blame the troops for the horrors of war. The blood is on the hands of the politicians that put them there, and convince them that they are always simply protecting the USA.

Death toll does not equal success in battle. If that were the case, I would say Iraq/Afghanistan are winning big time.

 

The Russians fought on their home turf on ONE front. They received supplies from the U.S. The U.S. fought from Africa to Europe to the Pacific. Our air force had a huge impact on the war. WE destroyed the WUFAFFAFFAERERER......whatever the German air force was called. I ain't no Angela Merkell, cracker.

America won that war, sonny. Losing 20, 000, 000 people doesn't illustrate victory. If America didn't enter the war Germany would have beaten the Russians. They had England pinned and awaiting destruction, too.

And all the while we smacked the Japs back to their homeland.........

if it wasn't for Russia's sacrifice, the Wehrmacht would have been much more difficult to destroy, without the eastern front going, Normandy (my grandfather was there) would have been WAAAAAY different as all the fighting men were there and it was old men and teenagers in the west awaiting the allies. Not that it wasnt an amazing accomplishment, it would have been a lot harder if the whole Wehrmacht where in one place, but dont let logic and facts cloud anyone's mind
