Oh god no, this thread was dead for over two months. Please do not bring the Gnome back, I beg you. We already had to deal with the return of AtanticO this week, let Roy continue to hibernate.
Hi Charles, I rode it to death. The current one is as good as new, here it is at the point, Manu Bay Raglan yesterday:
Roy it appears that the new hotkurl is a step up. This things hot doggin pretty good I'd say. When the build plans come available I think I'll try my hand at it !
Hi Charles your plans will be on the way soon, it's been a mad house here with work etc. I'm stoked with the board it carves nicely and takes a high line well. Surprising as it may seem hardly anyone was making the first section, one had to be in the right spot to get through it. Forty plus riders out lol.
It's all good Roy. After watching the performance of the hot Kurl I just want that board ! Lol but the earl should be a fun one to jam around on in the shorter period beach breaks we get here in Maine and it will be another great build. My makaha 10-9 has been getting into some pretty fast long period beach breaks as of recently. I'm very pleased with the ride, plus learning to ride it properly has been fun too. ( still dialing in) I have stopped the urge to get in the big stink big stance I am used too from my other Malibu long boards.
Did someone revive the gnome from his cryogenic chamber...? I thought we were going to be safe for the winter. Chucka-boo-boo, why don't you & gnome do the PM thing instead of torturing our eyes with the drivel, the mis-spellings, the butchered syntax & that latex stoke love thang that you two have for one another...?
Is that the best you can come up with? I'll play it gain to celebrate:
Hey Roy, you make some beautiful boards. The video of you riding the hotkurl looks fun and real smooth. Would you mind explaining the advantages and disadvantages of your boards vs. the standard board most of us see today? Also have you built any shortboards using your approach to board building?
the boards are pretty reasonably priced, you should buy one and see all the wonderful advantages for yourself! and please, disadvantages? it's roy stuart there are clearly no disadvantages...
they still cant turn, i forget who the other dude that was really persistent with saying that, but after i saw that vid it really confirms it sucks eggs and yes my friend everything about it is a disadvantage. look no sarcasm needed.
I started using my method after having been a short boarder for 20 plus years and built single fins from7' to 7'10" for the first few years. I've also built quite a few in the 6 foot range but they haven't been my main focus. If we are looking at the 10'5" in the video the main advantages all stem from elimination of the noseriding/trick surfing handicap. The difference in he water compared with standard longboards can be seen in the video: they carve effortlessly without the need for time consuming board walking.
If you've seen the video and yet type what you did above then you are seriously deluded, a habit which can be dangerous to one's well being. Open your eyes perhaps.
