Favorite Single fin shortboard designs

Damn awesome video man! Buttons backside 360 slider thing at the 14:20 mark was sweet!

 

6'3, don't remember the width and thickness but it has some good volume to it. Fuller nose, tail and rails like the 6'4 some one mentioned. Rides well in most stuff but really shines on the bigger more hollow stuff. Still has the stock fin in it. It works really well so I hadn't really looked for anything else though it may be a possibility in the future

 

In The Eye from Hatteras.Scott still shapes them. I get them with channel bottoms,and stick a 4a in them.shortboards.

Green one is 6'x2.38"x20.00
Black stringerless is6'4"x 21.0"x 2.5"
Tan one is 6'x 20.5"x 2.5"

I ride those Polfer Hull Designs single fin surfboards at http://www.polferhull.com . I have 3 of them, a 6'3 x 19 x 2.5 that I leave in Florida that is great to get in early and surf mushy windswell, I have a 6'x18x2.5 for the west coast that is great for beach breaks all the way to long point breaks, and a 5'7 x 18.25 x 2.25 that i use for reefs.

Anyway, they are fast and they have a little downwing hull you can see in the picture which add some bite and compress and accelerate the water over the fin. Super fun, super loose.

A few years ago all I rode was a 6'1 single fin- I dont know the dims but it was fairly generic... Actually a pop out made by natural progression- rounded pin. I think I got it ten yrs ago for like 300 new- which I why I got it. The thing held up forever (still got it) and rode great for a cheap board! Loved that thing- took it to PR and other surf trips numerous times! Had a small cut away fin in it like 7inch.

 

Love this thread. I picked up a bunger design 1 this summer and had it out on a 4 foot day and really loved it. Can't wait to try it again in some winter surf. My girl has a hydro glide that I really like both boards are around 7'2(bunger) 7'6 hydro glide. That polfer board looks sick but way to much design for me. Just looking at it is making me wait to sell everything I have and rethink everything I have learned about surfboard shape and design.

 

a good board should shift your personal paradigm, IMO.

 

As it did for me! These boards don't need to be pumped, you just make the drop, make a good bottom turn, do a manuver and set up for the next turn. It carries speed when you need it and dumps it when you want to lose it. The weight distrib is 50/50. Front foot for acceleration and backfoot for maneuvering and stalling. Just like it should be. No hopping, or endless pumping to make a section.
