    Yeah...

You know I was just thinking (That's why your lights just flickered) and I just thought of something.

There's a lot of dudes on here who bemoan social welfare programs, and what they call, "entitlements."

Now before you ostriches, who hide from political discourse, start wincing, rest assured this isn't political......

Anywaywho, I was just thinking (yeah that's the burning smell you sniffed a few minutes ago), and it just struck me how crazy that is. Surfers complaining aboot dudes on the dole and those who are unemployed and are dedicated to the lifestyle.

Wow, that's crazy. That's blasphemous. It goes against everything surfing is supposed to be aboot.

There are "surfers" on this here website complaining aboot unemployed dudes. Man, what is this? The Republican National Convention. Dude, Sean Hannity don't surf. Can you imagine a bunch of surfer dudes in the 1970's getting upset at "freeloaders." What is going on here? We aren't supposed to be mainstream, dang nam it.

If you are a hard working corporate type, well, hey, good for you, but how dare you criticize someone who only wants to hang around, pull tubes and surf. Yeah, yeah, the anally selfish types cry aboot how THEY are funding their lifestyle. No YOU aren't. Your tax money goes to overseas wars, schools, and interstate highways. My God, do you know how many unemployed surfers could be taken care of for the cost of one fancy fighter jet.

Anyway, everyone has free will (that's what we killed the British for) so don't get jealous of others. You can do the same thing. So quit your b!tching.

i don't have any issue with 'freeloaders' as long as they aren't receiving public funds to do it. by all means. be as bohemian as you like and surf til your hearts content, just don't ask me to fund it through govt assistance programs.

Theres nothing wrong with not working and living simple. But you cant live off the govt by taking free stuff (healthcare, cars, cellphones, income for years on end). The whole point of this country was for people to be free from govt and make the most of an opportunity that came their way. Come on PJB your better than this, spread a better word.

we all need to work an honest day's work 6 days a week.that doesn't mean a job with a boss and for money, though,so I agree as long as you're not taking charity/handouts when physically/mentally able.

I disagree with the beginning of this. Sure the in the beginning surfers may have lived this total dedication, nothing else matters, relying on the fruit of your neighbors life style, but as will all things popular, it attracts people of different socio-economic class. Most Importantly those who will never live sustainably off such an activity.

There are a lot of views on the right way to live life, and there are a lot of people that refuse to explore/accept others views, which is why you get arguments and hate. Personally I have tried being a corporate guy, and a dude that lives in a van, and with both life styles I have met people that don't agree with other styles of living.

Surfing is beautiful because of its ability to strip down life and allow equality amongst anyone who enters the water. You dont need to be a certain person to surf, you dont need money to surf, you don't need anything to surf.

Well, I'm not on any social assistance. I've said this 4.6 times before - I collected unemployment for six months back in 1997. That's it.

Jeez, with all the legal fines and sh!t, I pay way more to the government than you squares do.

I'm all for people getting money from the government, and no, this country wasn't founded to be free from government. It absolutely was not. Our founding fathers created, in essence 14 governments - the 13 state governments(once they ratified the constitution) and one unifying federal government. That's plenty o' guvment

Man, nobody hears me b!tching aboot paying for your damn kids to go to poor performing schools..........

I don't b!tch aboot road construction/repair...........and they don't even let me drive anymore....

But anyways, getting upset at "entitlements" is not what surfers are supposed to do.

Dane Reynolds gets social welfare from Quiksilver. He doesn't do anything. Oh yeah, he's artsy or something like that, with his movies. The dude can't be bothered competing which is what a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE is supposed to do!! And you guys all buy Quiksilver T-Shirts. So, in essence, you guys are paying Dane Reynolds to sit around and surf beach breaks in Ventura and be "artsy".....and drink. Yell at him.......

Go on, you yell at him....... that entitled douche bag. He don't do sh!t........

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have.

Pump, nobody forces you to pay taxes. Wesley Snipes and that b!tch from The Fugees didn't pay taxes......

pumpey, if PJB cant even see your analogy, dont cast your pearls before swine

and PJB, all those people went to jail an NOW pay taxes, they pay the kings tribute or the sheriff of Nottingham puts them in prison. again.

If gvt only spent money on social problems, id be somewhat ok so long as they were run well and not corrupt (who lives in a fantasy?), but they seem to get hard ons for using that money to kill people

but keep trying to have gvt solve gvt created problems, I am sure you wont be wasting your time //sarc

John Milius ceased being a surfer once he got involved with Hollywood.

Pump, when are we going to hang on that boardwalk youse guys got down there. You always duck me on that sh!t. We can drink, eat Mack's pizza, play skeeball and hang with da kids in the arcades....

Oh la la la it's the way that we rock when we're doing our thang...........

Hey pump you don't by chance know people with the last name Van Liue or Van Liew or something like that do you?

MIS-13 I tole you to run along little doggy. Hey I thought you were going surfing everyday and sh!t.......

Don't you guys know how to hide your money in offshore accounts? Jeez.........

Why should I pay for your kids, your roads, your police........if you won't allow me to get $140.00 a month in general assistance cash. $140.00 dogs, righteous bucks dudes......That would keep me high for two days.....maybe three.....Then I sell my $200.00 of food stamps for $50-$100 bucks and I stay high another two days.

Dudes !!! That leaves me 25 days without drugs, food or any money !!! So now I have to go out and stick-up your wife and kids for their loot.....

Then the police arrest me...which costs YOU money......Then you got medical bills for your wife........And then it costs money to house me in the county jail until trial.........and then it costs money for the prosecutors to present my case.......

So just give me $500 a month in cash and $500 in food stamps.

It's cheaper for you and better for me........

I think we could get a legitimate new political group called the Swell Party. I'm voting for PJB and ZaGaffer to represent us on Capitol hill. Our demands - More Waves. The means by which this can be accomplished - we don't care. Our primary adversary: High Pressure Systems and a Gnome who wears a red wetsuit. Our Slogan - Waves for the people. Our expenses: about 300 bucks to get PJB a suit.
