I want to surf in the winter but don't have a thickenuff wetsuit. I have a bodyglove 4/3 Back Zip. I want to get 7mm booties and gloves and also 5/3mm Men's NeoSport XSPAN Hooded Vest. Is this enough? Or should I save up and buy a 5/4. <br />Thanks
The vest/hood is a stopgap measure. Just put that money towards a winter suit. Beg your parents/girlfriend/boyfriend for a suit or for money towards one... and hopefully you will get hooked up for Christmas. If you celebrate Hanukah, well, You ain't getting sh*t, and we all know why. If there is no affordable special at a shop, check whiskey militia, seshday, etc... get the app and set an alert for wetsuits. Stay on top of Craigslist and Ebay for a used suit.... something will come up.
ive gotten some good deals from wetsuit warehouse and if it doesnt fit you can ship it back for free until you find one with the right size. if you have a shop near you try a few one find the one that suits you the best and compare the prices with ones online. then chose if you'll buy from the store or online. im selling a new 5/4/3 hyperflex chest zip for 275 right now never been worn and like 125 off what i got it for.
4/3 + 5/3...are you saying you'd be wearing 9/6 mm worth of wetsuit? If so, I highly recommend NOT doing that and get a hooded 5/4 mm
A really good 4/3 with all the other accesories would work. I for one would never try and do it with a back zip suit, chest zip maybe, but never a back zip.
Check some of the previous threads on the topic. but in short, atleast 10mm of suit and 15mm of booties and gloves will be highly recommended. The thicker the better. And as many layers as it takes. Good luck

Winter Surfing is very best time for surfing as in this season there are cold waves in the atmosphere. It is the very best time for the surfing. For you i advise to buy booties and gloves and neo sport of 5/4/mm. It will best for you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I wear a 4/3 oneil back zip with 7 mil boots 5 mil gloves 3 mil hood all winter... From nj here... Look into the average air and water temps... Air is what makes me cold when I sit out of the water but when I'm in the water I'm fine for a couple hours...more rubber sucks.

I've surfed VB in a 4/3 for years, and was ok. Got a 5/4 chest zip a few years ago on whiskey militia and havent' looked back since. Save your money and spring for the thicker suit. You'll be glad you ahve it on those cold a$$ days.
