Looking for people to surf with on Long Island through the winter

Just go to Gilgo. Any day its rideable you will find people to surf with. Plenty of people surf all winter long. Be friendly, learn the rules, make small talk, dont be afraid to ask questions and you will make friends. Know your limits and stay on the beach if you think it might be beyond your abilities.

I surf all winter. This is my first winter on Long Island though and have been generally surfing long beach since September.

 

Just so you guys know, there dredging at gilgo, it might be time to find a new spot.

 

dude, these days, you will have no problem surfing with people in the winter.

 

hey i started the first week of sept and am going to be on long island all winter. Id be down to go im right in smithtown

 

I mentioned the dredging at gilgo earlier, didn't do much the good sand bar is still there. Any day you head down shoot me a PM I'm sure I'll be there

that's funny man that's exactly where I was headed. if it wasn't for this thread I would of possibly surfed with a fellow swellinfoer and never known it. you guys are right this is touching

well first of all the forecast was for 3 feet and clean, that warrants a look in my book. after checking it out it most definitely was not 3 feet. pretty small and week. but conditions were clean so I paddled out and surfed anyway. when most spots are flat at high tide when the swell is small on long island, I got a nice little spot that breaks. wasn't great, only surfed an hour but I had fun. I don't get why people bag on people for surfing the small stuff on this forum. a surfing forum
