It's probably been done before, but i wanna here what you guys have to say. NJ .vs. NY. GO. Personally, i've surfed both a good amount and i'd have to say Jersey takes it just cause it gets a wider array of swells with a better selection of breaks plus more powerful, heavier breaks.
this has been done before in length but my you have just opened pandora's box my friend. good luck managing this thread. o and H20, before you post it, you really have to stop with the belmar stuff, we got it after the 38348934343th hash tag.
Yeah, definitely agree DIRTY J is way better. The beach beaks out east on LI never break, let alone get heavy.

When comparing typical conditions between NY v NJ, here are the only possible scenarios for the same swell: 1. NJ clean glassy epic / NY blown out 2. NJ blown out / NY blown out 3. NJ clean glassy epic / NY clean to semi clean. so as you can see, its never better in NY, its only almost as good but usually blown out while jersey is usually almost always seeing better conditions.
West wind - NJ. N/NW wind - NY. Simple as that edit: someone had also mentioned something about the wave itself. I've consistently found NJ to be steeper, heavier and more critical compared to NY which tends to be a bit more forgiving. that being said, some spots far east absolutely drain...
southern NJ has a few spots that fire on the N, NNW, and NW winds while monmouth can make sense of a SW and W wind no reason to go to NY except to see the wildlife and experience the ambiance anyplace besides far east in NY that functions in a W wind?
