See that is why I use a Mac. 7 years running with the same laptop and never once had a virus or threat. Hell I'm not even sure if it has any anti virus software on the thing, I just turn it on each day and it works like the first time I used it.

And good thing too rcarter. You've got enough viruses to deal with thanks to an illustrious career. Mac all the way.

Can you give me any more details or take a screenshot.
You can send us an email at info at swellinfo.com.
I'm not aware of anything, but we can look into it further.

Are you sure it wasn't a stupid misleading ad that was showing up?
Possibly an ad coming from a various ad network that we are unaware about.
The frequency of showing up once, the first time you come on, makes it sound like an ad.

Google, shows the site as safe:
    http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.swellinfo.com

Take a screenshot if it shows up again.
If its an ad, I"ll get it removed.

That's what I thought it was...an add for virus protection that makes you think your computer's infected type of thing...either way I'll get more details tomorrow.

    yo Seldom!

how to do screen shots in Belmar, NJ:

first hit the 'print screen' button on the top right of your keyboard- you might have to use the shift key or a FN or function key at the same time...

second- open Microsoft word or anything like that- even a paint program- then right click and click on 'Paste' kinda like cut and paste.

That's it. that's how we do it in Belmar, NJ - where the waves are always head hi btw... if you have a n apple- idk how...

I got it to but when I searched for the Microsoft virus protection software on my computer it was not there . I mean the whole program. And my McAfee said everything was fine. That Microsoft Protection doesn't exist on my computer, but I was getting the warning from it.

Wen you hit "Clean Computer" did anything Happen. Nothing did for me????

I don't have that Microsoft virus protection either and when I hit "Clean Computer" nothing happened either. I used my virus software and it found nothing. Waiting for it to happen again so I can send it to SI Admin.

Virus fo sho!!! SI was my home page and when I fired up Internet Explorer the other day, I got it. I have a PC and my Norton anti-virus wasn't fully functional at this moment. Like the only moment ever, go figure. I didn't notice prior to opening IE, so that's where I blew it. I'm about 16 hours in over the coarse of 3 days, battling this virus. Everything stops responding or responds very slowly, particularly on IE. I was sad to find during today's battle that this virus is raping my computer while I'm not even using it. I'm at the point where I'm going to back up everything up before I loose it. This sucks big time, a new computer isn't exactly in the budget right now.
I took these with my phone:

    Virus

I have been getting the same virus from Microsoft virus protection. it looks and acts like virus scan software and it asks you to upgrade your virus system by buying their software. It locked up my laptop to the point I had to have dell log in remotely and scan my computer. They found the virus and it was coming from the axis control need to view the cameras. It happened twice. Every time I clicked on the download axis control.

I definitely didn't download or install, I just closed IE because it was suspect.
I knew Swell Info didn't generate it btw. I figured someone is using SI as a bridge. SI was my home page so I knew it was from here somehow.

Anyhow my PC is jammed up pretty good. Hopefully I can save her:(

I've have contracted a computer forensic security consultant to take a look.

He says this is NOT coming from the swellinfo server, and its highly unlikely it is coming from any ads.
He says its more likely it could be something the user clicked on from another site that pops up whenever they open the browser. This would explain the issue, of correlating it to Swellinfo, if Swellinfo is your home page.

    His advice:
Anyone that sees those alerts should never run anything they say (the sites are flat out lying about being infected). If they did run something in the past, they need a full system clean - not involving the antivirus they have installed already. Again, the malware prevents the AV from working properly.

Why did you delete your other reply? That's odd. You're not thankful anymore? Did you want it to appear as if I was talking to myself? I took those pictures and posted them so you could resolve this and to validate the virus to the SI community. I haven't used that computer for internet because It needed a new wireless adapter. I did, however use it offline and it was fine up to the point where I put my PC back online and connected to Swell Info. Ironically I contracted the virus the same day this "Virus on SI" thread was started; which is also the same day I put the PC back online. The first click I made on that day and yesterday was on the FORUM button. What happened next is depicted in the first of five photos I posted. The rest of the photos are Norton identifying the virus and attempting to deal with it. I positively didn't click on, download, or install anything because I already know better. Thanks for your vote of confidence and not believing me on that Micah. Like I said, Swell Info was my homepage so when I open IE that's where I'm at. I clicked the FORUM button and boom! Virus time. My computer was instantly jammed up to the point that I couldn't have navigated to another page even if I wanted to.
Another site? Out. It was somehow my/our fault but you fixed the site anyway? Hmmmmm.

Way to pass the buck and not give a sh!t about my computer getting jammed up by a virus contracted through your website.

    Oh, and your welcome.

Ps It was cute how I magically got logged out 3 times while posting this. Even better was how auto-save was chopping out half of the paragraph and certain sentences in the middle opposed to the usual last sentence or two.
