    Hey Walking!!!

I highly doubt it will be as good as Belmar, NJ, this saturday when we're doing tow-ins(not tow-ats). But apparantly this massive sesh has been organized to protest how protected the break has been there. Ya know, when I read these stories, it just makes me that much more thankful to Belmar so close to home. Belmar, NJ, where there's always waves and never problems.

the main thing started on /r/surfing and is still going on now. crazy that people think everyone should have access to a wave right?

I think this is an apples/oranges situation with the whole spot map thing...I guess I was more curious to hear from dudes who tried to surf there but got hassled out.

Is it really a bunch of rich entitled little brats that regulate? Will this make a difference? That type of thing...I have respect for the dude that's organizing it, and it seems like he's put them on to spots in HI, and his cousin got jumped for trying to paddle out there apparently.

i've been following it on /r/surfing too. it's interesting that the reddit crowd seems really behind doing something like this while this crowd was so opposed to even posting locations let alone organizing a paddle out somewhere.
i'm pretty sure the board would literally explode if some suggested a paddle out somewhere hahaha.

The place only breaks good on a hard NW swell. If you're truly a resident local, you should have first dibs on the wave at it's best, however, you don't have the right to throw rocks at people walking down the path. Regulation should be done in the lineup, not on the beach.

That's because /r/surfing is home to the elite level of kook, have you read any of the horse**** on there, it's cringe worthy at the highest level.

I would say we could organize a takeover paddle out of kook masses at the naval jetty, problem is, it already happens every swell there.

I read one of the articles (from 2002, yikes) linked from the first story and there was talk of trying to get the local heavies classified as a gang since they are essentially performing the same type of acts. Any idea if that ever happened? I doubt it considering what was being said about the local crew and their police buddies and deep pocketed parents.

Wierd, I never thought I'd ever talk hear about a fighting, rock throwing, local surf gang and their friends, the police & fire dept. Something's definitely wrong with that place. An inverted universe or something.

The police eventually put up a beach cam and the residents went all enviro on them saying they needed an environmental impact study due to all of the surfers it would attract.

They need a few of you jersey toughs to paddle out.
    Impacting teeth for freedom.
