you don't need a security system.
We bought an old home, a fixer upper, in the 80's. The wifey made me put locks on the doors when we could finally afford new windows a couple years ago. We don't need no stinking locks. We got dogs. In the 90's, our next door neighbor got ADT. He was bragging how they guarantee to be there in 15 min. "That's about the same amount of time for a theif to run from my house into yours and take all your schitt."

if u have a BIG DOG u don't need home security, definitly true.i don't like those little ankle biters tho,why not get a cat?everyone in my town knows better than to test my house, and homes are broken into everyday where I live.my dawgy is the meanest on the block.

the other day with all the snow and ice, some guy tried riding his bike down the sidewalk where I was walking my dog.he didn't want to wait the 10 seconds it would've taken to get off the sidewalk,so he starts riding towards us and my doggy roars and the guy slips and crashes into a parked car.might sound bad,but I was proud of my doggy.after hurricane sandy when we had the 11 day blackout,i was walkin my dog at night in the pitchblack, couldn't see anything.some guy tried creepin up behind me and dog went into action alerting me of his presence and scaring the would be thief off.

im only scared for my dog with police.my dog wont bite unless commanded and I would never let him bite an innocent person.but I seen plenty of tapes of cops shooting dogs because the owner couldn't secure them.i have one of those dogs that if u started running at u,you would have to shoot him.but hes a good dog and knows right from wrong.i could put a 1000$ in my dogs collar and let him roam the streets, and hed come home with the money.again cops would probably shoot him if he was wondering the streets.i rescued lots of stray dogs, all big dogs,rotweilers,pitbulls,etc..I am a dog whisperer

Better than one dog is two or three - if you can afford it. Food and vet bills can get expensive. We have an adopted bother and sister from the same litter that are 7 years old and a pup that's 9 mos. I wasn't thinking so much about the security aspect - although a house with a bunch of barking dogs certainly serves as a deterrent to a would-be thief - but the interactions, antics, and entertainment that multiple dogs provide.

Each has its personality differences and quirks. The pup is the high-energy instigator and more than twice as large as the other two. Got to get her to the beach. We love all three, and I tell myself that when I find a chewed up shoe or while out in the backyard with a shovel and still-steaming pile stuck to the bottom of my Vans. That shoe tread sure is hard sure to clean.

we've had 3 at once, Facebiter(Dobie/shepard), Screaming Mimi(lab mix), and Maxwell Notso Smart(rot/shepard,husky). No dogs in houses on both sides. East pickin's.

When I used to scold my son, Face would get between us to referee. I always wanted to hire a stranger to try to grab him to see what Mr. Biter would do.

Max, the husky/rot was a ghetto dog. My wife used to pick up mail in downtown Nerferk. she notice a woman weeping and walking with an untethered pup beside her. everytime she'd stop to cry, the dog would stop by her. the wife went to console her and found that the woman was moving to a different slum, and dogs weren't allowed. she took him home for up. Max was the most racist dog we had.

Another option is to live in Maine. We don't lock out doors...it's just too inconvenient.

Think I'm ready to et a new pup. I was a big puss after my dog died a couple of years ago and never got a new one.
I didn't want to replace him, but I realize I'm much happier when I have a fury pal to hang with.
Think I'm going to get a lab so he can go ducking with me. I've helped train a couple of friends dogs to hunt and it's the most rewarding feeling when they actually get good.

That's not being a puss dude, just means you loved your dog. Think of it this way, there's many out there that need a good home so you're not doing it for yourself, or to replace your pal, but for that dog out there that needs a home.

Yup. Got a Aussie/German mix (aussie smart & German size) male from Top Sail NC shelter. Super protective if it's someone we don't know coming to the house... door ringing salespeople prefer to stand in the driveway... or someone gets too close to my wife in public. But also super friendly... good with kids, other dogs, anyone who will scratch his ears instantly has a best friend... professionally well trained and easy to pull back from rip your face off dog mode with a command.

All my family came from no-kill shelters. Best. Souls. Ever. EVER.

Probably about ready for another coupla awesome gifts to the human race to join me in my surf treks. My last guy, Goose (props to Phinny, lost cousin!) loved going out to AI wild side & just hanging out in the shade while I'd surf.
