the king speaks barely. though lucid he seemed to cover his bottom well….makes me wonder if politics are in his future…i'd vote for him.
yea, true...i guess it's more that almost no other pro talks about anything other than surf-related things. to even get someone speaking on a subject not immediately related to surfing is pretty interesting, let alone someone at the top tier like slater. i'd vote for him too, i think.
hard to believe hes a conservative when hes a conspiracy nutjob.I think if a lot of these redneck American pride surfers listened to Kelly enough, they start to hate him.i can dig it tho,Kelly can be anything he wants
where are you getting that he's a conservative? he says he identifies w/ libertarian & progressive viewpoints, but is not a neo-conservative.
Maybe you guys will get your wish, to have your idol as your leader. Your state might need a New Governor soon. Lucid, yes; well spoken but not exactly eloquent. Either way, he didn't commit to anything. Funny how he talked his way around issues, identifying with everyone on all sides of everything. WAIT A MINUTE .... he DID take a stand against war and mass-murder of innocent people. How courageous. He does speak as if he is running for office, and we should expect no less; the man is highly invested in one of surfing's biggest corporations and has his own tech-startup going. He's also a professional athlete or something. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, but I can't pretend that he said anything remotely fascinating, with the exception that his Principal let him off of school to surf competitively. It's hard to form an opinion of a man who's not opinionated. Sometimes I wonder if people have to be simple to be successful in hyper-competitive meritocracies, and this case makes me wonder no less (By simple, I do not mean unintelligent). Either way, thanks for the post 42, more thought provoking than much of the swampy drivel that I've slogged through recently. Please do keep 'em coming.
Slashdog, doin good these days bro? If the ASP ran for office then DC would be a much more functional and moral place.
New jersey needs a new governor AGREED. also we do need a new gov - wud help this time if they are not a lying sack of poop.
