    (I made this thread last year but couldn't find it.) I know Jersey is good and all, and there are so many guys on here that have so much pride for "#belmar" and all that. But I think it is kinda getting a little overrated. Whenever there is a feature on east coast surfing on surfline, I am all excited to look at it (because I know we just had the best swell of the year in RI), then all there is is "Belmar, and Sam Hammer," and a bunch of muddy barrels. And if I'm lucky, there will be one, if not two pics of pumping ruggles, and all it is captioned is, "RI". Kinda pissed off.

    1) quite 'swell direction sensitive'.
    2) more swell travel time over continental shelf aka friction.
    3) we have our own 'jersey shore' TV show.
    4) its not true that jersey is better;
    5) its that rhodey is worse.

    Of course it's overrated by people on the internet. It's flat most of the time. Why are you pissed off? Let the travelling surfers go to NJ instead of RI. Most people outside of this small circle don't even realize there is surfing on the east coast. lol

    True, also let 1A not go from Matunuck to Point Judith like every piece of coast in NJ.

    +1

    I have no idea why you created this thread...I did a simple search and your last thread popped up pretty quickly. LINK. 25 pages of posting on the last thread...I don't get the point of this thread when the other is still open....

    One place is never better or worse. Just different wave styles. Each place takes certain swell combinations of all the factors. Id say jersey is more consistent with many different types of waves that love different types of swells. Im sure theres days up there that blow NJ away but we get sick days when its off there. Jus depends on the day. everyones going to rep their local area anyway because theyve prob seen it perfect at some point

    I prefer crowd thinning top to bottom beachbreaks in nj. Can always find random beaches here with noone out if you know where to go and when. I feel like up there has the few big name spots everyone knows about and I feel like it would be annoying dealing with all the surfer bros that surf point breaks bro brahs.

    Yea man I would just worry about your own area and not worry about Jersey. Posts like these just make me cringe. Why do you care? Just surf already man enjoy your (5) point breaks and if it is so good over their why not shut up and keep it to yourself. Do you want more coverage and more crowds? #belmar #belmar4lyfe

    Belmar/bayhead is very "surfy" . Surf shops and alot of bros lookin to shred. Bayhead has biggest barrels because the photographers go there bro. Always sick ones elsewhere just noone to witness it which is cool. Tryin to surf for my own fulfillment and not get caught up in the scene.
