lol I couldn't imagine anyone who didn't realize that was the hook.havent seen it break like that in years.the hook is very crowded,but I know exactly where they surfed because they were at that same spot years ago when I met them.it seems they are getting tired of the crowds in bayhead.in the last 6 months,they posted footage of them from 2 of my secret spots nobody ever knows about.then they bring a camera

I think gleason is the jjf of nj right now.he made some incredible toobs and his hacks are just nasty.

The day of that swell somebody started a thread. I posted this...

"Surfed low to mid on the incoming this morning at a spot I've been surfing a lot lately. Today was the best I've gotten in in a while. Overhead sets, loooong chest to head high walls, and a handful of nice tubes. Beautiful day. Smiles on everybody's faces."

I don't think the hook is a hidden break. I can walk to the gate from my house, and I don't surf there during weekend swells because its always crowded. Unfortunately its going to get way worse with replenishment and jetty notching. Mike Gleason is amazing for sure. It's definitely motivating to see him pull into what look like closeouts then pop out and hit an air reverse once he gets inside. He has also been really cool and nice the few times I've talked to him. Hope he continues to make us smile. Today was fun, eating, then going for more.

I have allegiance to any spot that doesn't need help with crowds.
I know my state well, and travel throughout it accordingly.
Defaulting to the same spot every swell regardless of conditions is a kook move.
People forget what happened yesterday, let alone what Surfline posted 3 years ago.
Many people actually do not know what breaks are in site of NYC, but are more then willing to be spoon fed the info by idiots like yourself.
Every surfer does not look at every feature Surfline puts out, me included.
Spreading the news on the WORLD WIDE WEB about where it was good last weekend is as ignorant as it gets, and the exact reason certain spots have blown up in recent years.
Most of the visitors to these blown up spots are simply dangerous and in the way, spoiling it for the more seasoned surfers.
People are lazy and mostly don't like driving around searching for good spots, or figuring out when to go where; however, they are again, more then willing to be spoon fed the information by mouth flapping idiots like yourself.
There really isn't any secret spots in NJ (f~cking duh), but exponentially increasing the crowd for coming swells by blowing up a spot on the WORLD WIDE WEB is ignorance and dueshbaggery at its finest.
Everyone definitely does not know, but after moronic moves like yours, many more people do, and we can be sure to see a notable increase of surfers in the water next time around.

By requiring an explanation of your epic fail on the WORLD WIDE WEB, you have really pigeon holed yourself.

I could be wrong,but will sandy hook be the only beach that doesn't get replenished?I really see no need for it since theres no houses nearby or anything worth destroying.some of the beaches are already huge,its not like lb where u have 15 ft of beach then its water.even at the inlet they have plenty of beach,unless they already replenished that.I hope sandy hook lives because its the closest spot I live near and I usually surf everywhere but the hook but they buried all my other spots.

 

The water in New Jersey dipped to 32 F and stayed there for almost a month. People can't even get that correct on here. Yeah, that's a true story.

No one is a local at Sandy Hook except the Federal Government. No one lives there. None of the pros who were surfing Da Hook live anywhere near there. If it wasn't for them, nobody would be talking about The Hook on this site. So who's to blame? Ihatelongboarders or Sam Hammer? And what's that Balarm Stack guy doing there. I don't get it. I thought you guys were cleaning-up the riff raff on this site. I just let my son start viewing this site again, since the idiots have left and some sense of decency and order was established.

You guys complaining about crowds are clowns. You shouldn't even be on a site like this if you are a true purist, unless you have the gift of gab and need to sound-off on internet message boards. I like the guys who complain about crowds as they post Youtube videos.

I just like to catch a few waves with my son and wife. The crowds never bother me. I don't even notice them.

Also, I have noticed, even my son has (he's 12), that this Make It Stop guy is trying to mate with that Doug guy. It's funny when people on message boards try to form alliances. My son finds it funny, too. He's 12-years-old. Why would someone from Hawaii be so interested in an east coast surfing site? Maybe he don't even live in Hawaii, but demonstrates, yet another example of internet delusions. Plus, praising Doug while trying to come across as an intellectual is counterintuitive. It just doesn't make sense.

The best winter since the more modern surfing era ushered in was (drum roll, please) the winter of 1986-87. Straight-up. My son, who is 12-years-old, wasn't even born back then.

 

I really dig the locals at the hook,u know the federal rangers that patrol it.i got pulled over one day for tinted windows and 2 guys hopped out with bulletproof vests and machine guns.i laughed because u can only think why do u look like ur about to invade Poland.another time I was driving through I had a ranger behind me,and a car infront of me,and I was scared I was about to get pulled over and the ranger casually passes me,puts his blinker on and pulls the guy over infront of me.some of them are cool,some are not.i seen them hasseling a father and a 10yr old son for fishing on the bay side without a liscense.I guess locals really do rule,with an ironfist

 

I dont know anything about this spot or care cause it is wayyyy to cold for me...but that was some amazing footage. That looked like moss landing on its bets day ever...maybe just a little smaller. I like how surfline called it some of the longest tubes they have ever seen on the East coast....I would say in America no? Are there any waves in California that barrel like that for that long? Serious question not rhetorical. Epic tubes!
