These guys popped up with this small business near my place of domicile. I love it !! I want one but will prob just make my own, but it's still pretty radical, but this concept is great for cold New England. http://www.surfsauna.net/about/
$16,400...for a base model? Man...I'll get one after I hit the lottery. In the meantime I'll just enjoy my hot water jug and dream...
I found the pricing to be striking as well. What if someone thought to place them in areas, but make them bigger and stationary then with paid access members could have a lets say yearly access.. But that's making surf culture seem too much like the ski culture right ..? Don't get me wrong the sauna idea is excellent but i think a price like that is too radical
Who wouldnt want jump in a sauna after a frigid surf... BUT, outside of the $18k price, why wouldnt you just drive home and jump in a hot shower or hot tub or sauna at home. A bit of an overkill for me, but cool nonetheless.
You could take a lot of warm weather trips!! For sure... This is for the like the billionaire surfer, if that person even exists.
I did just that on Saturday. I was staying in Wildwood at the Bolero on Oak and Atlantic. They have a hot tub, pool, and Sauna on the 7th floor. I didn't surf until 11 due to my hangover and, even though the size dropped, I wanted to wait for the winds to straighten out a bit. Surfed right in front of what used to be called Morey's pier. Not another surfer in sight. Just some hot little college girl who was actually doing her homework on that sh!tty-a$$ beach. Man she was hot, lips like Scarlet Johhansen. But I digress. I got out and cruised right up to the 7th floor, disrobed outta my wet suit, and hit the hot tub.(nasty) Then, I went in the Sauna. It was Orgasmic. Worth 16 Gs? No. The other effect was that I got drunk watching the Flyers/Pens game and almost missed all the evenings festivities.
they shouldnt be just selling units. they should pull one up to busy surf spots during the winter do a pay as you use deal... just sit there keeping it warm and as surfers exit they could buy 10 minutes or so to change in a warm private enclosure.
I had access to the Barrier Island condo inside pool and hot tub, in Duck NC, before they built any houses. We'd surf right in front, then run and jump in the hot tub with our wet suits on. It really fugs up the neoprene. but it'll get you warm fast. then one day they hired a guard and that ended that.
