Hey guys, just got back on today. I was in a car accident Saturday night. I was going through an intersection 2 blocks from my house when a tow truck ran a red light and tboned me driver side. I never even saw the truck. next thing i know i was facing the wrong way and bleeding everywhere. i had to be cut out of the car and then taken to the hospital. I really don't remember too much but I cannot thank the emergency services of VBEMS, VBPD, and VBFD enough for taking good care of me. Somebody must have been watching over me because i am lucky to be alive.

As for the point of the thread, you never know when it may be your time to leave this beautiful place. Always live every day like it is your last, always say I love you to your family members, and always wear your seatbelt. I am pretty sure that and my SUV crossover-whatever door saved my life. Hopefully i can get in the water here on wednesday and thursday. havent surfed in like 2-3 weeks!!

Take care of yourself and get well.
How true what you said about never knowing when your time will come. You read about such things in the news. A guy will go out for a quick late night run to the store just to pick up some milk and bread for the morning but never returns home due to a car accident (with a drunk driver) or a shooting.
I worry about my sons out driving at night. I see about 1-2 accidents weekly on my way to and from work and a a lot of near accidents in this area. That's when the weather is good.

Wow, man, that sucks! Glad you seem to be OK. Never been in a serious car wreck but I've seen plenty. People seem to generally drive worse these days. Tons of distractions available. I find that as I get older I drive more and more defensively. I wait another second or two after the light changes, drive a bit slower, take another look before making a turn, etc. Of course, there are some things that are just out of our control no matter what.

This is so true. I must say I don't always live this way though. I often take many things for granted. I need to work on that.

Hope you get into some good waves! The salt always makes things better!

    Good call on that.
Cell phones and driving are bad news. Pull over if you need to fiddle with your devices!!!

Thanks for sharing and very happy you are ok. As you can see, we want nothing but health and happiness for the brahs here. Yes, events like this put things in perspective. Take this opportunity to truly reflect and your gratitude and perspective will change for the better heading outwards. Had too many of the situations and I've also been on the end of pulling someone from the grip of the reaper. Get your rest and we look forward to hearing you getting back to charging and scoring again soon.

Ya man, good on ya. Sometimes I feel like it just takes a good close to death situation for one to really accept and enjoy the fact that you are living today and accepting the fact that you can't change something that you don't like. Its like Greg Long with his wipeout at Cortes. This is exactly what this reminded me of. Have a great recovery and hope you can get in the water soon!

Glad to hear you're alright. I about had the same thing happen to me last week, idiot girl yapping on her phone blew a red light and almost t-boned me.

You're right about the small stuff. Worry about third world problems, good health, good shelter, clean water, good food...the rest is just gravy...(but I will still complain about not getting to surf).

Hope you have a speedy recovery and get in the water soon. The salt water should help those wounds heal.

"Someone" was looking over you. A little advice from yer ol' uncle Chich. Now you have to concentrate on your recovery. Make sure your problems are properly address by your doctors. Question everything. If you get answers you feel is off, get a second opinion. IF, God forbid, things aren't healing to your satisfaction, get a referral to Dr Adam Billet in Chesp. He's an expert in difficult wound treatment. He saved me twice after getting stabbed in the foot surfing.

Glad to hear ya made it, and ya learned something from it. There is almost always a silver lining. I learned that lesson when I lost a good friend to cancer a few years back. That really tore me up, but I have learned so much from the process, live with no regrets, never put off anything that you really want to do, F*ck money and reputation and other people's (society) expectations of you. Just don't be that drunk guy in the tow truck...

757 I'll be surfing tomorrow and thrus as well, PM me, we can collaborate and trade some waves. I've got a new stick that I need to get wet.
