Why did this thread get locked?

you've been here long enough to know wayne/sonfollowersurf/my savior is a spam-a-lot type poster who uses the forum here to push his business & religion in an overly aggressive manner. it's not a discussion of different beliefs or creeds, it's a sermon. every. single. time.

Jacksonville youth minister arrested on molestation charges

A youth minister at Christ’s Church Mandarin was arrested Wednesday after police were alerted to sexual activity with a 15-year-old boy.
Wayne Lawson, 38, of Ferrell Lane is charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious molestation of a juvenile.

I have never met Wayne, but I do recall there was a youtube vid posted somewhere that had him talking about his outreach, etc. I would say that mug is not him, based on my recollection of the youtube piece.

Besides, Wayne is in Cocoa, not Jax.

Any thread that wayne666 starts utilizing for his crazed view of gawd & mankind is destined to burst into flames. Come to think of it....maybe spontaneous combustion is a miracle of the SI Forum.

 

It's a known fact that a sure fire way to start a "heated discussion" is to talk religion or politics. And the talk of Jesus brings out much angst in some, if not many. So, given Wayne's focus, this is an expected outcome.

 

discussion is fine, preaching is not.

 

I suppose that is appropriate in this venue or other forums.

So it isn't necessarily what is said, but how it is said (or asserted).

Then again, an often heard complaint is "this is a surf forum" and some discussions are deemed (by some) off topic, no?

Nevertheless, surfing is a connection point of many individuals spirituality, thus there my be such a space where one connects with nature (and the creator of nature, should one believe so).

So I guess the bottom line is no one likes to have beliefs jammed down their throats. No doubt discourse is better as it gives one time to "taste and chew on it a bit", as the other MO is a choke hazard.

 

First, let me say that I am not a fan of Wayne nor people of his type. I feel that he uses deceptive methods of recruitment (bait and switch). And like so many others on this forum I wish that he would stop pushing his beliefs upon others. This is, after all, a surf predictin' website not a religious forum.

That said, I also feel that he is often unfairly vilified here. He is frequently portayed as a child molester and pedophile. I can see how it is easy to make that leap as there are so many cases of people in his position taking advantage and abusing that authority for their own creepy motives. Those are horrible acts and should not be tolerated at all by society. However, I don't recall anybody offering any evidence of such trangressions.

Now he is being loosely linked to some other creep who apparently did commit such crimes merely because they share a first name and state of residence. A simple Google search will uncover who Wayne is and even where he lives. This is the Facebook page of his ministry and also his own:

As you can see by the photos there, he is not the same person that yankee linked to.

I am a live and let live kind of person. Live your life as you choose but don't impose upon me and others. Because of that, I really don't care for Wayne and his type and I do wish he would stop pushing his views on the forum. But if I find myself in Cocoa Beach this summer in search of waves, I wouldn't mind meeting Wayne just to see what he is really like. We could surf 23 footers and shott the pier. Or not. Whatever.

Regardless, I don't think it is right to falsely accuse people. Not every religious "leader" is a child molester any more than every little league coach or adult involved with the Boy Scouts is. Wayne may very well be a child molester or he may not. Unless and until there is some real evidence I don't think he should be labeled as such.

But to its their own.

 

Oh, and one other thing. The thread that just got locked was long dormant and "resurrected" by somebody other than Wayne. Stop talking about him and maybe he'll go away. Needless I say more...

 

Given the history of the Church with children on this planet, and many other religious endeavors & their history with children, it's not a far leap to conclude that a guy offering free surfboards to children if they will ride in his van & listen to him preach about hayzeus is a community menace (I'm not making that up, btw, that's wayne666's actual self-stated m.o. & his claim to infamy).

When wayne666 first appeared on this Forum, many moons ago, he went right into the proselytizing with nothing to do with surfing. Numerous posters, and it was a lot of folks, pushed right back.

wayne666 stays quiet for awhile, but then he posts again with his hayzeus gibberish & it's clearly with the intent of getting people to react for the sake of he needs attention.

wayne666 was banned by simod666 - - permanently. Did you know that? Somehow, a la SJB, he resurrected himself under the 'my savior' moniker. He's on here only to annoy people.

So, you can ignore him & let him post in various threads, which he will do until someone tells him to stuff it. Or, tell him to stuff it. He gets the attention he craves, because simod won't can him.

 

And that original threaded was posted under the guise/title of 'Free Surfboards'...that's it, so it was totally baited.

 

Yankee ~ Valhalla is spot on. You've been doing as much, or more, to promote Wayne on SwellInfo as he has. If no one responds to his threads, they'll quickly go to the bottom and be lost. No matter how many times he reposts, if no one responds his promotion is stuffed. A better use of your energy would be that each time you see a new thread by Wayne (or any other of your arch-enemies), you simply post 3 or 4 new threads about some surfing-related topic, thereby pushing his to the bottom.

On a side note, your logic of connecting Wayne to pedophilia is tantamount to me saying that you're likely to go around shooting southerners because your "name" is Yankee. There's actually a point at which pseudo-accusations could result in a slander lawsuit... tread carefully (stay thirsty), my friend.

 

If we tie a big rock around Wayne and throw him off the Cocoa Pier...if he drowns...he is not a witch and therefore is obviously innocent! This is the only way to find out!
